Hello all, I'm new to this forum. Hopefully this is the right place to ask my question. I recently bought a Model 12 Savage/Anschutz Target .22 with 26" bull barrel from Kittery Trading Post. It came without the rear micrometer sight. But I bought it anyway because finding one of these guns in 97% NRA condition is damn near impossible without spend more than I want. Most of these older Anshutz rifle have the rear micrometer mounted on the left of the reciever, but with this model, that can't happen or else the safety switch is in the way. I must find a rear peep that mounts the 3/8 dovetail rails on top of the reciever, either find an original that came with those guns, or one that works. I've tried ebay, gunbroker, andauctions arms. Is there any one here that knows what that original factory rear sight model number was so I can have a reference point to go from? Any info on finding a suitable rear sight for this thing would be greatfully appreciated.

Try Gary Thiry parts in Sacramento California. He moved, but was still in business about 15 months ago when I bought a NOS rear peep sight for an original Browning T-bolt. I am not sure what the phone number is. Google lists two different numbers, so I will let your fingers do the walking.

When I lived in Sacramento, this was the place to go for parts. I also picked up a NOS firing pin for a Winchester model 75 and also a NOS magazine for a High Standard flight king in 22 short.

Good luck and enjoy your Savage.

Re: New to this forum

Thank you guys for the warm welcome. I love living in Maine where I can get at KTP when my shooting bug bites me. Thanks for the line on that guy in Sacramento, it definitely sounds like he has the gear.
