Hello guys and gals, my name is Matt. I'm a newly registered user and I found this board yesterday while Googling for suppressors.

Last night, I purchased a POF .308. It's the first gun that I have ever purchased, while the few I've owned were given to me. The details of my purchase are below.

This rifle has a 20" barrel with less than 200 rounds shot through it so it's just getting broke in. This is a sub MOA shooter. It comes with 3 DPMS mags, a nice tactical bag, a Hawke Optics 3x12x50mm illuminated reticle with 4" sun shade (very bright) mounted on a American Arms quick release mount, GGG bi-pod and Manual.

I purchased it for the Buy It Now price of $2600.

The only thing that worries me about the purchase was that I bought it from someone who has no feedback, however, I am also a new user and have none either.

If any of you have any suggestions or warnings, such as what ammo to use, a better/affordable brand of optics...please let me know.

Well Matt, you sure do have nice taste in firearms. You'll love that rifle. If I were you, I'd get a sample of Black Hills Match, Federal Match, and Hornady TAP ammo to see what shoots best.

Also, if this is your first gas gun, you need to practice practice practice. I'd probably start reloading if I were you. Enjoy your stick!

Sweet rig for your first rifle.. If you were worried about the seller, maybe you should have not have bought from him.. Did you send the funds certified at least with signature tracking and a postal money order? Anyhow, hope it works out.

The rifle will arrive on Thursday. I sent the funds via an online website using my credit card. Yes, I was worried about buying from someone with no feedback but I decided to give the guy the benefit of a doubt, I only hope it doesn't bite me hard...in the ass. LoL

I've spoken with him over the phone and I've used a couple of websites to do a background check on him. I asked why he was even selling the gun and his reply was that he owns about 50 guns and he's going to build an AR-10 after having sold the POF to me and a rare SIG 551 to someone else.

Yes, this is my first gas gun. In fact, the last gun I owned was a 12 gauge over 10 years ago. I chose the POF .308 over the DPMS-SASS .308 because the POF seems like the better built gun, not to mention everything that came with the POF.

As for ammunition, is there a certain brand that I shouldn't use in order to prevent any avoidable issues?

Just about any match ammo is going to be fine for you. You just need to find out what your rifle likes to eat. Some ammo will shoot better than others. I tend to think the Federal Match 168gr or the Black Hills 175gr will be your best bet, but I would also try out Hornady's TAP. I had great luck with their 155s. But like I said, you won't know how well that rifle shoots until you start reloading. And if you really want to shoot a lot and not break your bank, and reloading set up is in your future.

By the way, what kind of glass are you using?
