Very nice. I always enjoyed watching the revolver guys at matches.

For some strange reason I enjoy shooting and competing with revolvers far more than I do with semi autos. I'm gonna run it in Production since there's no Revolver heat around here. I don't care if I get beat, I do it for my own reasons.
My IDPA gun is a police trade 64-5 that a local guy slicked up inside for me. I think I paid $280 for it and it absolutely hammers, plus I can run .25 splits at 7 yards staying in the A/-0 zone. Six rounds of 125 gr SNS RNFP over 6.2 grains of CFE Pistol, freestyle double action at 21 yds:
Got it today. Trigger is sweet. Gun is tits. Moonclips rule.
It came with a set of Hogue rubbers and the Altamont NU grips you see there. The Hogue's finger grooves are a soup sandwich and are completely in the wrong place for my hand. The Altamont was much better but still, I needed to try my favorite grips made by Kim Ahrends.
Ahhhhhhhhh...............now it feels goooooood.......
And looks good too. All it needs is fiber optic front sight.

Took it out two weeks ago, need to change a few things to suit me.
Trigger is smooth but heavy (10 - 10.25 lbs). Gold bead front sight sucks, too wide and that bead glares like crazy.
Dropped it off at my favorite gunsmith for cleaning up the trigger with an 8 lb bogey. He's done all my other wheelguns to a smooth 8 lb trigger and it's amazing what a difference 2 pounds makes.

I would figure LSWC might be accurate (always had been in my 1911’s) but could be slower on the reload?

It's a 357 Magnum. I'll be shooting only 38 Specials since that's all I need to make minor power factor in USPSA.
In any case, regardless of the caliber round nose bullets rule for the fastest most reliable reloads using speedloaders or in this case moon clips.
The bullet nose profile, on its own, has nothing to do with accuracy in any particular handgun.
How did i mess that up? (Found the .45 reference above in nockhunters post, kinda slow.....)
Somewhere I got onto the LSWC for my .38 and .45 loads and have had great success.
IIRC there is some group of competitive shooters that prefers them for their “holes” in paper?
There is a lot of fun to be had shooting a good .38 load out of a full size steel .357. So easy and fast on doubles.

I'm pretty serious about my shooting and tend to do my homework, but I'll take any advice in case I miss something.
Bullseye shooters love them. But then, there's no reloads on the clock in that sport.
Round nose bullets rule in revolvers for USPSA and IDPA where reloading on the clock is necessary. The edge of the bullet hole doesn't matter because there are overlays to see if the hole broke the line regardless of how clean the edge of it is.
Six rounds of 38 Special reloads (6.2 grains of CFE Pistol under a 125 grain SNS polymer coated round nose, WSP primers) at 20 yards, freestyle double action from my IDPA gun (S&W 64-5, 4" barrel):
38 SPL. I don't feel like fucking with the Colts, I want my reloading to be hassle free and from the books. I already have a 38 load that makes minor with ease and shoots pretty good (see above)
Making even minor with short Colts seems too much like 9 major. Not worth the trouble.

Reloads are everything in revo. 38 Special is much more finicky going in the cylinder.
In my 627s I am using 38 "medium" Colt which is 38 Long Colt cut down to 38 Super length. Hung out as a M for a while. Started shooting 147-165s in my 929 and made GM pretty fast.

My IDPA revos are a 686-5 and a 625-4.
My 686 is cut for moons, but still works awesome with speedloaders.
