Sniper’s Hide
New to this forum, but not new to shooting.
Having to relearn things since a stroke in '14.
Since then, multiple health challenges.
Used to shoot an M1A Super Match, and then
PTR91Super Sniper, but due to physical limitations,
went to an LMT in both 5.56X45 NATO and 6.8
SPC. Then transitioned to a LWRC in 5.56X45 NATO.
It has been a very, l-o-n-g, s-l-o-w, road...
Have purchased a Falkor Defense Omega, in
6.5 Creedmoor. Topped with a Vortex Razor
HD Gen II 4.5-27X56, Bobro scope mount,
resting upon an Atlas BT46-LW17 PSR Bipod,
with Standard height with a ADM 170-S Lever.
I have a Kestrel 5700 Elite Ballistics
Weather Meter, and will be using it in
conjunction with it's Android app, as
well as Hornady's 4DOF. This is all tied
into a Samsung Note 8.
What I DON'T have, is a reliable laser
rangefinder, that will interface with the
Kestrel, via my Note 8. Have been looking
at the Sig Sauer SOK24701 Kilo2400ABS.
It should seamlessly integrate Kestrel, with
appropriate apps, to maximize long range
accuracy. Depending upon further research,
as well as feedback from here, I may order
it next week...
Ammunition is factory Hornady 147gr
ELD-M, and for hunting, 143gr ELD-X.
My shooting distances, to begin with, will be
from 400 meters on... The range where I will
be shooting, only has 600 meters, so will
eventually have to find a longer range.
My goal?
1,000 meters, then longer. A young friend is a regular
shooter at a mile+. To me, that is amazing.
So, rather than disappoint a young blonde,
or because of vertigo, and just look at an expensive
sports car, I decided to get back to shooting...
Looking forward to not only relearning, but growing in
knowledge, experience, and ability. At almost sixty-nine
years of age, I believe it’s possible to make a fundamental,
paradigm shift in one’s life, and lifestyle... Part of that, will
be in taking better care of myself, as well as appropriate
exercise...
As you see, lots of things going on in my formerly military
trained mind... So, that’s why I’ve come here- to recapture
a tiny bit of my youth, and to live out my last years... It's
true, we do go back, at least, to the things that we enjoyed
when young...
Thanks for your time and kind consideration...
P.S.- Lots of questions to come...
