I want to try my hand at longer distance shooting and I need scope advice. I want to try and stay under $800 on the optics not counting rings. Any suggestions on a good starter optic? Rifle is .308 and the most I would be doing at first would be 500 yds. I will be learning on my own. No local training available. Might be some advice from RSO. What would be easier for a novice to get the hang of MRAD or MOA adjustments? Thanks for any helpful advice and any recommendations on good instructional reading material on the subject.

MOA will be easier to pick up initially. MIL will be easier to work with after the initial learning curve.

Sightron SIII 6-24 with moa2 or mil reticle.

You also need to decide if you want ffp or sfp.

Post your location and someone might volunteer to help you out.
