Hello everyone another newbie from Texas here. Looking forward to doing some long range shooting now. Just picked up a Remington 700 Milspec 5R tact and hoping that this turns out to be a good base rifle to start with. Any tips, suggestion, advise etc. will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome the Hide. Yup a Remy 700 5R is good platform to start out with. What kinda glass did you put on it? If you already have a decent optic, first upgrades I did to mine was getting a nice Timney trigger and replaced the stock with a chassis system.
Welcome Fluted308. I have a 5R, and think you'll be real happy with it. I chose a SWFA SS12x42 to start with, but would like to put a Mk4 or Nightforce on it eventually.
Thanks for the welcome. I have a Falcon Optic Falcon Menace 5.5-25x56 Tactical 30mm Riflescope for now just so I can start shooting and maybe get a Leopoldo or Nightforce buy the end of the year. First I want to change out the factory HSP stock to a McMillan M5 adj. with the BO M5 from a member here. Has anyone here ever used a Falcon Optic before? And if so what are your thoughts about it?
