newbie in Dallas, TX

Hello everyone, newbie to the forums today. I'm in Dallas, TX...currently an executive in the banking/financial services sector and previously a police detective and SWAT sniper team member.

Its been 12 years since I served as a full time SWAT Sniper and while I still shoot I'm certainly not training/shooting at the level I was when on SWAT. Looking to get back into long range shooting, maybe go to some events/courses, enjoy the world of long range.

Bolt action wise I currently own a newly acquired Tikka Tx3 Tac A1 .308 16" (no scope yet) and a Savage Model 10 FCP-SR in 308 equipped with a US Optic MR-10.

Good to see you, I think you'll enjoy that Tikka quite a bit once you get a scope put on it, might want to eventually get a longer barrel for it to give you a bit more velocity around the 1000yd range.

Welcome! Also a Dallas local here. You should look up the North Texas Precision Rifle Club. They hold monthly matches close to DFW. I shot my first one last weekend. Tons of fun for new and experienced shooters. Definitely some good guys in the group.

I'm in DFW also. I just started applying for police recruit positions, and think I would really enjoy being a SWAT sniper. Why did you leave? Any advice pertaining to that career path?
