Newbie mounting scope questions

Hello, I am mounting my first scope and have a few questions.

First I wanted to say that I have researched how to do this to death, but still have some questions.

My rifle is a 700 5r 308.

I bought a weaver 20 MOA picatinny rail and a vortex viper pst 6x24-50 scope, which I have here.

I would like to just get this thing up and running as fast as I can and without damaging my rifle and scope. I am on vacation for the next month at a place I can actually shoot this rifle easily, so would like to just get it up and running and when I leave I have all the time in the world to get it perfect.

Is Loctite necessary? If I don't use Loctite and just screw down that rail, should it hold zero for at least 100 shots fired?

I need 30 mm scope rings but I have no idea just what height to get. Does anyone know off hand what a Remington 700 5r and a vortex viper 6x24-50 scope would need?

Below is a picture of the scope just placed on top of the rail, can anyone determine which scope ring height I may need?

Thankyou

You don't need Loctite. And I'd use the blue 'non-permanent' if you did decide to use some. Just torque them to spec and you'll be fine.
With regards to rings, something like the Seekins lows will work nicely. They are a bit pricey, but worth it. If you wanted to save money the SWFA low rings are decent, and only around $35 if I recall.
Have fun on your vacation!

You can Loctite the base to the action; actually not a bad idea. You don't have to, but at least you know it won't shoot loose. As for ring height, you see how your scope bell has plenty of clearance without rings? Get the lowest rings you can find in the brand you like.
