Hey guys and girls I'm a newer shooter to the precision rife area my local gun shop has a used 700P in 223 with a harris bi-pod for 650 was going to jump on that and get me into the bolt gun arena.
I will probably not ever shoot more than 600 yards with the rifle and most of the time will shoot between 100-300 yards.

So now i have not got the rifle was going to go get it tonight after i get off work and will be looking on the hide for a used scope i want to be in the 1000-1700 range on scope and rings. I was also wondering what base do i need on this rifle.

There is a NF NXS 3.5-15 x 50 MLR MRAD on sale here on the forum i was thinking it could be a good fit??? Looking for opinions on the rifle and scope and a little direction, i am digging through the forum for other post but thought i would get some info from the horse's mouth.

I'd say jump on it if I were you. That is a great scope to have. It is very reliable, takes a beating, tracking is very good, and you can change it from gun to gun if you wanna upgrade and don't have to buy a new one.

From my understanding that is a FFP scope, do you know how large is size the retical would be at 15x zoom thats the one thing that i have thought of that might be a draw back... Even though at these shorter distances it should not be too much of a problem i would think..

What size rings are most people using a 50mil scope on a 700?

I have a Rem 700 LTR in .223. I have a Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x40mm LR/T (Model 56130). The scope can be found new for as low as $769.00 (gunbroker.com). I am very happy with my scope for the money.

The NXS is a SFP scope.
