Next time they say banning guns is the answer show them this.

"There is no single cause, but there has been a big spike in both gun crime and knife crime across London," Parliamentarian David Lammy

b-b-b-bu-but i thought England BANNED all guns.....how can they have gun crime?

Well I guess it’s time to ban cooking knives huh. Anything sharp becomes illegal. I guess that will make the world safe. Stupid democrats.
you laugh....sad part is theyve already considered it.

these loons dont understand....that a person intent on killing someone isnt going to stop just because they dont have a weapon......theyll use what they have avaliable.......gun, knife, rock, bat, fist.......try looking into why people are killing each other in the first place, and fix that......not what tool they happen to use.

they wont be happy until everyone is literally walking around in belly chains so they cant lift their hands high enough to punch, or legs high enough to kick..

I thought england already regulated knives. Last I remember you have to have some kind of chef's license to own a knife

getting caught carrying a knife with a blade longer than 3 inches 2 times is go to prison time in the UK. 2 strike law, it is in the article. So non-criminals are totally disarmed in that "free" loving country.

Well, aloha snackbar. I can’t figure out the reason either.

They are regulated. When this legislation was being formulated in 2006 law makers referred to it as conferring "powers" (upon the state, schools, etc.) with which to remove knives from potentially offending parties. Not sure how they measure that success now.

Basic laws on knives
It is illegal to:
  • Sell a knife of any kind to anyone under 18 years old (16 to 18 year olds in Scotland can buy cutlery and kitchen knives)
  • Carry a knife in public without good reason – unless it’s a knife with a folding blade 3 inches long (7.62 cm) or less, eg a Swiss Army knife
  • Carry, buy or sell any type of banned knife.
  • Use any knife in a threatening way (even a legal knife, such as a Swiss Army knife).
Lock knives (knives with blades that can be locked when unfolded) are not folding knives, and are illegal to carry in public without good reason.
Children are permitted to use knives appropriately (such as a safety knife when sailing) under adult supervision.

Knowing well that I shouldn't be surprised by this sort of insanity, I had to double check that story. Still feeling doubt I triple checked it. I can only think that it is moral cowardice that empowers this sort of thinking. The act is left unexamined and the actor is practically absolved.

I watched a serial documentary called "(something) Evil" and it was about various types of murderers in mostly English speaking countries. Several in England involved firearms and later large knives. So what I could gather is that they used hyped up media coverage of each event to affect the law changes. Sound familiar?

Imagine being LE in UK , most do not carry a firearm . I could not step into their shoes without
a firearm . Restrictive firearm laws have just moved the goal posts to knives . Ban knives and
it’s screwdirvers and rocks ....

EDIT : in another thread here , a homeowner defended himself with a knife , against a screwdriver
wielding robber in his own home . Apparently the perp appreciated the significance of UK
knife law .
