I would like to start upgrading my Remington 700 ADL in 30-06. Right now it is all factory minus threaded sporter barrel and LB muzzle brake. Current glass is Vortex Crossfire II 4x12x44. I have narrowed down to either new glass, new 2 stage trigger, or a new stock.

I can’t afford to do it all at once so I figured I would ask the hide to see which I should do first to get the most out of it at this point.

Currently has just been used for hunting. Deer, hogs, coyote. I just recently have access to hunting hogs and coyotes with shots up to 600 yards, that is when I decided to try the long range shooting. It will be used primarily for the long range hunting and target shooting, but I would like to keep the weight down within reason in the case I take it on some deer hunts. I also need to think about budget as my next upgrade needs to be done for $300 or less.

Thank you W54. I was eyeing up the Timney 2 stage. It seems to be right around $200.
The stocks I was looking at were the Boyd’s Varmint and the And-One. The glass was the Athlon Argos BTR 6x24x50 but concerned about the weight. Going to do some more searching for something in the 16-18 power range and hopefully a little lighter than the Argos.

My end goal is to have something that shoots MOA or better at 600 yards. Hopefully I can do it with this cheap rifle and factory Ammo.

Thanks Cattleman. I have always noticed in other rifles and handguns, triggers really help with. I have been confused with the glass as I read so much about how having a “premium” scope helps. I seem to have had good luck with all the “budget” $300 and less optics I have had, although just used for hunting and mostly all under 100 yards. I am going to step up to 200 yards next range trip and will have a better idea of if it held zero and how it tracks.

This is from yesterday 100 yard target. I am also in the process of seeing what Ammo it likes best. Very impressed with the Sst 165 as it was by far the best in yesterday’s testing.

You answered most of my questions right before I posted.
So I'd suggest that the Hornady .165gr group looks good for that rifle.

Might as well try walking it out further at the range using good supports & you may already be at your 1MOA at 600 yards goal.
