Rifle Scopes NF 4-16 ATACR Reticle Choice

I’m looking at a new scope for a general purpose .308 win, and I’m strongly considering the 4-16x42 F1 ATACR, and I’m trying to decide which reticle would be best.

Option 1 is the MIL-XT. I know I like the tree-style reticles I’ve used (Vortex), but I’m concerned that the MIL-XT might be a little busy for that application (non-competition/general purpose .308), and I worry it will be hard to see in a 4-16 power scope.

Option 2 is the MOAR. I know, apples to oranges, but I typically shoot MOA and, importantly, so do most of my usual companions. It seems cleaner, but would I be missing out on a lot of capability, especially considering the relatively low magnification of the scope?

Also, as a third option, scrap the ATACR and go with a Leupold MK5 3.6-18x44. I already have one of those and I know I like it, but (strangely) I haven’t seen much comparison between that and the ATACR 4-16x42.

If you shoot MOA, and your buddies shoot MOA, and you don't compete, go ahead an stay with MOA.

Don’t do it. Switch to mils. Get your buddies to switch to mils.

Sell the inch scopes on long range hunting.

MilXT abc Mil C are both nice reticles.

If you think the MOAR is good maybe give the Mil-R a look. They seem to go for less 2nd hand too.

I personally like all of their reticles and any would work.

For those that have spent time behind it, how visible is the MIL-XT at lower power? It seems fairly popular on the 5-25x and 7-35x scopes, but less common on the 4-16x.

Welp, after days in and out of the digital shopping cart, I’ve finally hit checkout on a 4-16x42 f1 ATACR with Mil-XT. Definitely sets my new record for pricy optics. I hope the reticle won’t be too busy for my intended purpose. Plus I guess now I’ll be running a mixed fleet of mil and moa scopes.

I’ll be interested in comparing it to the Leupold Mk5 3.6-18x44 that I’ve already got, since they’re both aimed at similar markets and applications.
