Really curious to try one of these out. Has anyone had a chance to put it next to an AMG, Razor 2, even a March 5-40 or other tier 1 optics? Would love some opinions on it. Especially how picky it is at 35x. Thanks!

It's an awesome scope, it's gonna be bigger than the AMG Razor, and I am not a fan of March for a tactical scope... but NF did an awesome job keeping the resolution high even at 35x

Shoot it for a week at CORE in the warmer weather doing PRS Style stages, as well I have one here that I am big fan of

Specs are different than the ones you are looking at in terms of length and weight, if that is not a big deal, the NF is a worthy choice

Frank, will you be doing a full review on the 7-35? I've seen probably all your reviews and they are extremely helpful. I'm not as concerned with size, weight, just don't want the rifle to feel awkwardly top heavy. Really looking to try and get in to PRS style comps this year and trying to find the right fit.

I've compared the optics of mine vs the nf5-25 f1 as well as the gen2 razor and a few others. The new 7-35 is just a bit better imo. It resolves more detail than the others which should be expected since it goes to 35x.

Its not holy crap that's amazing better, but it is better to my eye.

One of our PRS customers won his recent match with his new 7-35 he's very pleased with it overall and other competitors were impressed with it.

A good friend that I shot with got one so I tried it beside my gen II razor 4.5-27 at 1k. The extra magnification is nice if you really need it for say extreme ELR but frankly the reticle was way too thick & heavy from 30 to 35 power compared to my vortex. As I understand it NF is coming out soon with a new reticle for the 7 x 35 so perhaps the reticle thickness will be reduced in the latest offering. As to glass quality, the Vortex gave up nothing to my eyes.

Reticle thickness is one big compromise on a scope with this magnification,,,35 too thick, 15 too thin etc,, I have one and I like it except for the married mag ring and ocular adjustment. I wish NF would get with the program on this

I have a 4-16 f1 and find the mil-r reticle starts to be usable to me at about 10X is it different for the 7-35?

While when the Mil-R first came out, I wasn't a fan, after using it for a couple years, I've come to like it. It has everything I need and no extra clutter.

As for it being too thick at 35x, I can't think of any scenarios where I'd want to shoot at 35x. I look at it as more of an observational tool at that mag than anything.

What mag range do you think the mil-r starts to become usable?

    Covert is as Covert does.

Plenty of good feedback on the scout site.

I find the MILR fully usable at 4x in the 4-16 F1. That scope was designed to be usable throughout its mag range with the MILR, and I think it does it pretty well.

I've had 20X or 21X scopes for many years. A friend purchased the 7-35 ATACR, and brought it to my range. I found 25X to be plenty to shoot with 1000 yards, and less. It helped my make make up my mind to stick with the 5-25 ATACR, and wait for the Mil-C reticle. His 7-35X might do a great job later this year when we go shoot 1500+ yards. As flat as my range is, the mirage dictated that it didn't get turned up above 25X.

I had a thread on this on the now old Scout site. Lots to like - glass is very good. Prefer the Razor EBR2-c reticle and so "which is better" is tough to answer but I will be writing a full review soon and will compare to my Razors and to the S+B Pmii. Meanwhile some teaser shot: scopes.jpg

The eye box is more forgiving on the 7-35 as is the parallax versus the 5-25 F1. 15x thru 28x is usable for me, anything higher is for spotting which it does a good job at. Mirage is still a bitch but so is everything here in AZ

How do you find the reticle on 7x?

How did you find the FOV at 7x for hunting?

I shot this guy at about 25 yards in some brush in front of me at 7x this year. The ATACR 7-35x F1 may be the best all around long range scope I've ever played with, and I love my 5-25xs.

I want one bad!!! But when are they going to update their reticles as far as simple christmas tree in moa or just a nice clean center dot or center less cross hair. Not a fan of Horus reticles or the up charge for them.

My biggest bitch with Nightforce is their reticles. I know I am spoiled by my Vortex EBR-2c mil-rad but NF should be able to upgrade the quality of their reticles. Especially for the prices they charge....
