I found a nightforce 5.5-22x56 nxs scope. NO zerostop nor hispeed used. Can anyone tell me what i need to look for before purchasing? Just dont want to get screwed trying to save a bit of cash. Id trust if it was for sale on the Hide..but this is a local guy. Or is it best to save up for the newer model? $1k cash..advise? Thanks

Re: NF

Suppost to be a mil/mil from what i understand..if im buying i have to meet after work today. I seen a few pix and looks good..unless they have clones?!? But he said was purchased from opticsplanet, used on an ar reaper..sold gun now selling scope. i really want the zerostop/hispeed..but if i can save 700-800 ill settle with it !

Re: NF

I just paid almost double that for a new 5.5-22x50 NXS, mil/MLR/ZS (without HS turrets) from the good folks at Sport Optics and am very happy with the purchase. I recently asked the same question here about the HS turrets and it doesn't appear that they make a HUGE difference to the function of the scope, but rather are a convenience. Depending on what your intended use is, you may find the lack of a Zero Stop to be more of an issue. Also, you didn't mention what type of reticle and/or turret adjustments that particular scope has. IF the reticle and adjustments fit your needs, $1K is a pretty good deal. If you really are looking for a different reticle and/or turrets for your purposes, you will probably not be happy down the road, even though you saved some $$$ now.

Re: NF

Dude,

You are getting totally jammed by this guy, a con job for sure! HOWEVER, and with your best interests in mind; give me his name, number, and address, and I'll straighten his ass out.....

Re: NF

if you call nightforce on 208 476 9814 and give them the serial number they should be able to tell you when the scope was made, any work done on it etc. $1k sounds good value.

Re: NF

Yea..i was going to buy it last friday for 950..he backed out the day of and said he was going to keep it, then emailed me today and said i could get it today for 1k.. Like i said, i just dont want to waste the $ if its a bad deal is there anything i should look for on this scope???

Re: NF

Well make sure the features are ones you want. Personally I would never buy a mil-dot scope, MOA is the way to go. For me.

But otherwise you'll be backed up by any real mechanical defects by NF themselves.

Re: NF

For 1k, I doubt this is a mil/mil. Most likely MOA dials, reticle could be anything. Whatever it is, a 5.5-22 for 1k is highway robbery (the best deal I have seen yet). You should take this scope with no questions asked.

Re: NF

I need to start finding deals like this. But like others have said, give it a good visual check, spin the turrets, check the glass to make sure it has no scratches. If any of the above is found, send it back to NF so that they can take care of it for you.

Re: NF

Well, i did get the NF for $1k. The seller was only like 22 yrs old..said if he didnt sell he was gonna loose his truck, sux. The scope is a Mil/Mil 5.5-22x56 had the box, warranty card,NF lens cover etc..basically new. Serial # starts with a V. I called Ken @ NF and gave him the Serial #, He said it was made Feb 2010..Very happy..now just need the AICS!!!... Thanks for all the replies!!

unless you are ranging with your reticle, there isn't much to learn at all. Just dial the correction in according to the POI relative to your reticle. Oh, make sure it is on 22x when you do this. Otherwise, you can shoot at 11x or 5.5x and double or quadruple your readings respectively.

Re: NF

ill ask because i have to, because it hurts to imagine otherwise, but........

did the kid steal it? hahahahha

yes i did just spend $2541AUS on a fully tricked 3.5-15x50 and hardware but hey, no hard feelings right??

great find mate,
