Rifle Scopes NH1 or Mildot retcile if Hunting is main objective

Just wanting to see what other people think about reticle choice if you took the Hendsoldt 4-16 plunge IF the rifle where to be used for hunting deer/pigs at longer range and on dusk.

My thoughts for this application the Mildot might infact be the better choice......you have SOME holdover/wind points when required, the old Mildot while outdated to many is a clean reticle design, you have a good thick reticle thats easy to pick up..............or does the NH1 reticle lend itself well to this task as well ?

chris hunts with the NH1, i think it's perfect for most tasks, hunting included.

I find the NH1 superior to the old mildot reticle. You should not have any problems picking out the hash marks for holdovers.

If the center post goes right to the center and then you have that clear space it would solve the "perceived" issue people have with a FFP reticle covering your target.....It seems kind of like a modern "post and picket" retcile I had a post and picket reticle on a hunting rifle I used to own and it did work well on game.

My concern with the NH1 for hunting would be if you were using it for close in stuff, I've heard the reticle gets pretty thin at low powers. For long range hunting then the NH1 would be great.

It does get thin, but its still perfectly usable on 4x to kill things

If the thinness is a concern, just illuminate the reticle. Even at the lowest magnification setting, I can quickly get an aim on any target, especially something as large as a game in close distances.
