Nice brawl at WBC

As an admitted baseball purist, all I can say is, you had that beanball comin'. You knew when you stepped in the box after the guy that bunts, or steals a base, with a 7 run lead, you had a target on your ribcage if you were lucky, on your chin if not. I don't condone it, but that's the way it is, especially with Latino tempers involved. I have a hard time believing Larry Walker was not involved in this somehow, being the hitter he was in MLB. I can see him pouring it on. I don't think Mexico is going to make it out of pool play, but if Canada is tied with somebody and it comes down to runs scored as the tie-breaker, I can see that, but you still have to know you're violating those "precious" unwritten rules. I think there's a place for the intentional HBP, but this is not it. Mexico should have sac'ed up and just worked on getting out of the inning. Funny how it took him 3 tries to hit him.
I don't know if there's some previous bad blood between the two, but there is now.

You have an out classed team 7 runs down and the pitcher thows tight to get some room, understandable, but to drill a guy just because team "Mehico" doesn't have the skill set to play for the situation at hand just shoes what a bunch of low lifes they are. Would it be the same for going in hard at the bag to break up the double play with a 10 run lead?

It wasn't their day, grow up...

I played against Mexico every year, and I can tell you that they are very, very sore losers....

This brawl didn't surprise me in the slightest.

The Mexicans were wrong. The way the WBC tournament is set up, every run counts. If two countries were to end up with the same record, the team with the better run differential moves on.

The "unwritten rules of baseball" do not apply in this situation. You want/need to put up as many runs as possible, and play defense. You're supposed to "pour it on". This isn't spring training, regular season, or the playoffs. This is a tournament with very specific rules.

The Canadians obviously understood the rules. The Mexicans did not.

Happy to see the USA doing well.....
