I got this buck on opening day of the hunt. I must admit I was not ready for him when i first saw him. Has luck would have it, he decided his best defense was to freeze and not move an inch. I spotted him on the rimrocks late in the afternoon, he then gave me the time to get out my range finder then get out my phone open up my shooting app then get set up and take the shot. It seemed like forever to get my act together but it all came together at 510 yard with a 6.5 Creedmoor with the 140gr A-Max.

I was in north west New Mexico unit 2b. Didn't see very many deer. Turns out there were 2 other bucks with him that I saw after the shot. Pretty sure I dropped the biggest one.

Great looking deer! I'm pretty sure the biggest buck always gets up and leaves AFTER I shoot!

You could be right with that one, all is saw was 2 big animals and antlers @ 510 yard run over the ridge without using bino's, we hunted the same area for the next 2 day's and my dad ended up with this buck.

Most any hunter here in Central MT would be VERY happy to pop a buck like that. Nice symmetry, good width and height and HEAVY. For whatever reason we simply do not have the genes in our local herds for big horns.

The muley fellow Montanan Pat Sinclair has for his avatar KILLS me! He's a few hundred miles away where they DO have some good bucks.

Would be nice to hunt in warm weather conditions too I bet.

Nice deer! Congratulations.

I was back up in that area again this weekend hunting Elk and when I came back to town for gas I ran across this monster buck, It was parked at the local bar and I'm sure the hunter was inside celebrating! deservedly so!

What a Buck!
