Has anybody tried coating the bolt and bolt lift points to smooth out the bolt travel and lifting pressure? I was messing around with a Badger action last night and it was new so I don't think it had broken it yet so I got to thinking would nickel boron help? Then thought about my Savages that are hard to lift, would nickel boron help there?

Seems like it would be logical that it would smooth everything out a bit.. Would likely be similar to a good polish job with more benefits that the particular coating offers.

Re: Nickel Boron Coating Bolts

I have a nickel boron bolt in my AR... It was supposed to be easier to clean. True it is but the damn rifle doesn't like the bolt. Talk about a pain in the fourth point of contact. Doesn't feed for a tinker's dam but that's adjustment. There are kits you can purchase on line to coat your own parts BUT you have to follow instructions to the T Or you may experience unsat results. For a bolt gun I think it would work as well or better than bare or chrome coating. I know you may include teflon but haven't tried that.

On surface prepaid you have Parkerizing or existing chrome it has to be removed.not easy but can be done.

Hope this helps...
