1 WEEK LEFT: This Target Haunts Me Contest
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
I have been thinking of putting one of Night Force's more power full scopes 30+ plus on me bench rest 22. Will these scopes focus down to 25 and 50 yards? I was told by a few people they will not. Andy advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Umm...dude...the mirage gets pretty bad above 22x and if you need 30x for 25-50yds, you don't need a higher powered scope. You need an eye exam and maybe should consider getting bifocals.
With my NXS dialed back to the lowest power of 5.5x, I can see the 25-50yd and the target fills the entire FOV.
Obviously neither of you have ever seen a .22 benchrest target. You need some power to tell what score ring you are in. Anyway, the OP was asking a question and it wasn't "What power scope do I need for shooting 25 and 50 yards?"
If no one answers, I will check next time I go to the range whether my NXS will focus at those ranges. I have never tried it, as my .22 has a fixed 32x Mark 4 on it!
These are not designed for 25 - 50 yard shooting and would be total overkill. Plus I'm almost positive they won't focus below 60 / 70 yards on high power... You'd be better off with something like an airgun field target scope - high power with the correct focusing at these ranges.

That is correct, at least, I certainly haven't.
To the OP...check this link as it will give you an idea of what you're looking at as far as pricing, power, and for what reticle choice.
I had a 12-42 nxs a while back and when I was at 42x at 100 yards the target was always blurry. I'm not sure about the br model nightforces they might but I have never messed with one
I'd recommend a leupold comp for what your looking for as they will focus at close range.
