A good night with the kids a coupla years ago now, took the 30 just in case something bigger popped it's head up, but the night was all about the kids. They had a ball.

Looks like a fun night out, if we did that here it would be an expensive night out!! lol By the time the game wardens quit writing tickets it would have been cheaper to take em to a steak house.

oh man, i know what your talkin about...around here, the cottontails are THICK. once or twice a year we have to thin them out or the newly planted trees get hammered.

Rabbits population numbers over here are crazy.. the other weekend we killed 142 of the fluffy PITA things in about 4 hrs and didn't even come close to denting the numbers on that property.

It's pretty bad when you consider a pair of rabbits x 3 years = approximately 65,000 rabbits... most people are more than happy to let you shoot them on their properties and given the damage a large population can do, it's not surprising why.

From memory we ended up with 28 - 30 bunnies, spotlighting on the back of my ute.

The great thing about bunny bashing is they're excellent game for teaching the young 'uns about firearm safety and proper use.

Rabbits are an introduced pest in Australia, and the only limitation on their destruction is getting permission from the Cocky (farmer) to shoot on their land. As they are so destructive to crops, native flora and landscapes, that permission usually isn't too hard to come by.

I've read where rabbits are a huge problem, but aren't the Dingos a big problem also?? Seems like they would feast heavily on the rabbit...

Dingos are not so much a problem anymore, and they are now protected.
Feral dogs are a HUGE problem in the pastoral regions, destroying stock.
