I am wanting to put some trituum sights on my ProCarry II. I am torn between the Meprolite, and the Trijicon sets. which do yall prefer? and why? im leaning toward the Trijicon right now, but am looking for some user feed back

Re: Night Sights for my Kimber

Meprolites have larger dots and are about 30-40 bucks cheaper, I have em on my holster gun for about 2yrs now with no rub marks and are still bright as day 1.

Re: Night Sights for my Kimber

how do you like them during the day? i know the trijicon has a very vivid ring around the tritium. but cant find any good pics of the meprolight

I have a set of Novak Trijicon Night Sights on a Compact Stainless II - they're very easy to see in both daylight and low light. For me, the white ring around the tritium "dots" makes an appreciable difference over units without the white outline around the "dots". The Meprolights are good, but I don't find them as fast-to-use in direct sunlight as the units with a white ring around the "dots" - I've installed Trijicons on four Sigs and my Compact Stainless II because of this. However, your mileage may vary.

If there is a gun shop within an hour or so that carries both Trijicon and Meprolight, I'd suggest that you call and verify they have samples of each and go check them out in person. Even if the shop doesn't have a 1911 type in stock, you can still look at the sights and see if you like the white ring or not.

Or, depending upon your timeframe, a gun show is another place where you could probably compare both side-by-side indoors and out. Good luck.

cool, thanks guys. im in no rush.

forgot to ask, if i go with trijicon, i can do yellow back sights, is it worth or just go with green on green

Re: Night Sights for my Kimber

I'm a fan of Kensight. They are on a lot of premium 1911's . They are wire EDM cut, and built like a tank. KenSight uses Trijicon inserts in their sights. I had two sets of meprolights break on me.

Theorietically, having the front sight a different color than the rears makes it harder to misalign the sights, but if you bring the gun up and sight down the barrel I think you'll find the sights line up for you fine w/o having to resort to different color front and rear sights. That said, I do have the KB01Y (Yellow Rear, Green Front) on my Compact Stainless II.
