Re: Nightforce 1-4x24 Mil/Mil w/ exposed knobs
I'm not exactly sure what the original question is. My 1-4x24 Compact NXS doesn't have caps or covers of any sort on the turrets. They're exposed just like my 3.5-15 and 5.5-22 NXS models. I got the 1-4x24 as a strictly CQB optic, so I went mil/NP-1/ZS. I wanted the upper field of view as open as possible, but still with a crosshair-type aimpoint. For me, this is much easier and faster acquisition than a red dot, which for some reason I just don't find easy to acquire. I have really become hooked on this optic and like it very much. Thanks to Ken Pratt @ NF for the suggestion!
Two things about the 1-4x24, though. First, it is quite heavy for a CQB optic. It's absolutely solid as an Abrams, but heavy relative to red dots or holo type optics. If the rifle fails, I will be able to use it as a pretty satisfactory blunt force instrument. Also, the turret rotations are limited to 1 full turn (E) and 1/2 turn (W) before the limiter/stop engages. This is different from the full-sized NXS models. Anyhow, I have used mine from 25-200 yd, so it's pretty versatile. I think you'll like it.
