Rifle Scopes Nightforce 1-4x24 Mil/Mil w/ exposed knobs

Re: Nightforce 1-4x24 Mil/Mil w/ exposed knobs

The link to Bear Basin was to show that they had the mil/mil as a stock item. Bear Basin lists a model having a MD reticle with .1 mil Radian knobs. This picture is from the NF website. Not sure if the knob is a cap. My experience with NXS is limited to higher power models.

Re: Nightforce 1-4x24 Mil/Mil w/ exposed knobs

I'm not exactly sure what the original question is. My 1-4x24 Compact NXS doesn't have caps or covers of any sort on the turrets. They're exposed just like my 3.5-15 and 5.5-22 NXS models. I got the 1-4x24 as a strictly CQB optic, so I went mil/NP-1/ZS. I wanted the upper field of view as open as possible, but still with a crosshair-type aimpoint. For me, this is much easier and faster acquisition than a red dot, which for some reason I just don't find easy to acquire. I have really become hooked on this optic and like it very much. Thanks to Ken Pratt @ NF for the suggestion!

Two things about the 1-4x24, though. First, it is quite heavy for a CQB optic. It's absolutely solid as an Abrams, but heavy relative to red dots or holo type optics. If the rifle fails, I will be able to use it as a pretty satisfactory blunt force instrument. Also, the turret rotations are limited to 1 full turn (E) and 1/2 turn (W) before the limiter/stop engages. This is different from the full-sized NXS models. Anyhow, I have used mine from 25-200 yd, so it's pretty versatile. I think you'll like it.

The ones I saw didn't have caps they were engraved on the turrets with .1 Mil hash marks. It appears that is an option from searching more and it brings the cost to $1459

I guess I will have to save for awhile or try to find one used.

In all honesty this will be going on a rifle that might be used in 3-gun a few times but most likely will just serve as a backup to my HD rifle w/ Aimpoint and will go to the range shooting from 1-200 yds. I just don't want to limit myself and if I am spending the $$ I'd rather just spend a couple hundred more and get what I want so I don't regret it later.

I have looked at the PST line but am concerned about release date and whether or not they have some of the issues fixed.

I have also looked at the Accupoint TR24G and TR24-3G as well as the ACOG TA11H-G as alternatives but having never been able to shoot with any of them but have looked through a TA33G-H and liked it alot. The thing that I don't like about the Accupoint is no holdover ability.

I really like the BAC concept and use it well with the Aimpoint I have so I don't know if I would be fine using the TA11 at CQB ranges or not?

So may questions so little $$ to experiment with

jl,

I see you're in Aurora, NE. I know it's a bit of a hike, but if you are interested in checking out the 1-4x24 I have, I would be happy to bring it out to the range (Eastern Nebraska Gun Club, Louisville, NE).

Thanks for the offer...if I can get over that way ever I will get in touch. That's the worst part about where I live. We have hardly any ranges or places to even look through optics much less try them out.
