Well, I think like many people, I have just about wasted my budget on my rifle and scope, and still need some bases and rings.

Savage LRH 300winmag
Nightforce 3.5-15x50

I have about $100 for bases and rings, but I may be able to scrape some more together (had a TON of OT at work this last pay period). If I need to wait a bit for rings and bases, I will consider it, just want to be prepared for spring black bear.

I am thinking about a 1-piece Brownell's 1913 rail (around $50) and Burris Signature Z-rings (these already come with a pair of 0.000 and a pair of 0.010 inserts).

I would like to keep the scope low, but am interested in recommendations. I am thinking that HIGH rings will get me the needed height above barrel, plus spare in case I ever need to re-barrel.

Am I on track? I already have the reloading stuff, so the last bit is really rings and bases.

I should have my scope next week, just wanted to be fully prepared is all.

Thanks.

i'm with rebelbell, but if you want a good pic rail and some good rings, and your determined not to go with a nightforce setup, go with a talley long action savage base with 20 moa and some burris xtreme tactical rings.

Believe me, I did not intend to skimp out. Initially, Nightforce was not even an option.

If money would allow, I would go Nightforce (or Warne), just can not afford it at this time, nor in the near future for that matter.

Talley and Burris tactical rings I can do. Will look at them.

+1...I run a Ken Farrell base with Badger Ordnance Max-50 rings...Rock solid so far!
