I’ve been running a Nightforce ATACR 7-35 and have a concern that I’m looking for feed back on.

After installing the PTL, it became very difficult to adjust magnification. I literally have this thing finger tightened! Also tried with out PTL and the magnifications is significantly easier.

Not a fan of the PTL location. Not sure if I can move the scope a whole lot because of eye relief.

And you used the right hole for it?, the black screw with nightforce(uber tiny text) marked on is the one to remove.

can you take out that knob and take a picture of it? the entire occular is difficult to move or just at the throw lever?
sounds like that screw might be cut just a bit too long to the point you have more of a set screw/ wedge

The hole is not drilled through, so if you succed in making it in to a set screw i'm pretty sure the only fix is a trip to NF for it.

Just the PTL. It was a little frustrating though because I would have to grab the whole ocular just to get it to move and as a result would adjust my focus because it is right there

I've got the 7x35 and it's not a problem (with the ocular adjustment, throw lever, etc.) so if it was mine I'd be giving NF a call. You can actually speak to a tech and they are knowledgeable (they'll know what is wrong.)

If your diopter is moving, the lock ring isn't tight enough.

I've never seen anyone have trouble with the magnification getting harder with the PTL.

Yeah I’m tracking about the diopter. I just meant the PTL is so hard to move. I would something have to grab the whole back of the scope along with PTL just to get it to move.

But I agree with other comments that they may have drilled it too deep. So now the PTL is working like a locking bolt/ wedge against the eternals

Is this your first NF scope? I only ask because the ocular rotation to change mag can feel much heavier than a "mag ring" style scope. Took some getting used to but I also get that you are saying it changes feel with knob on vs off.

For that I think NF deserves a call to be sure; I wouldnt think it should change, BUT this could just be your "feeling". Can you turn ocular with and without knob by only using ocular? In other words, install the PTL, but still rotate ocular by not using PTL. Does that feel different?

Are you saying it’s more difficult to use the PTL than just grabbing the entire ocular because it’s small, or are you saying that turning the entire ocular with your hand get more difficult if the PTL is installed?

If the latter, unscrew the PTL and turn the entire ocular with your hand back and forth while slowly screwing in the PTL. If it gets more difficult while screwing the PTL in, you need to get NF on the phone.

So just to be clear. It is substantially more difficult to turn the ocular with PTL in than without.

I have tried it multiple ways. But as soon as I install PTL, finger tight, it is almost too hard to turn

Probably good idea to send it in to NF then, i used the wrench that came with the scopes and tightened it quite hard.
and had zero effect on the ocular movement.
