Rifle Scopes Nightforce Benchrest 8-32x56mm,NP-R2 reticle

Getting a Tikka T3 Tactical 223, is this scope a good match? Rifle is for playing. Love to hear pros/cons, thanks!

Help us help you, is more or less what I was trying to get across, and read the sticky "tips for asking advise about a riflescope"

What sort of match? Define playing? What sort of distances? Do you prefer mil or moa? What type of reticle do you like?

I suspect this is not a benchresr rifle so a 8-32 might not be the best route. It is a great scope but is SFP, dated compared to current market trends, limited internal adjustment, 1/8 moa clicks, and poor reticle choices.

I shoot for fun, getting too old to think about competition and just don't have the time. I'd rather tinker with my rifles,loads and shooting skills and spend the day target shooting out to 600yds at my club than drive 3 or 4 hours to shoot a match against much younger, motivated young guys with no sense of humor. Just got into this long range this year, before I was quite happy with my 600yd minute of moose rifle and loads.

I shoot an AI/AT 308 with Kahles K624i and am quite pleased. Saw the above Tikka 223 on sale . so i impulse bought it. Now I want to scope it.I'll use it at our monthly 600yd shoots along with my 308 so I can shoot in 2 classes. I have found a second hand Nightforce Benchrest 8-32 scope that I thought might be a good fit. I have an old Leopold VXIII, not 3,Duplex that I could just use and save the dollars. Sightron was the other option, but similar scope would run the same dollars as the Nightforce.
might use the rifle for gopher shooting also as there a group of serious gopher shooters at the club who would be fun to do a road trip with.
I like my Kahles SKMR3 a LOT. But FFP/ milrad scopes are out of the price range for me I think.

If you are just target shooting at known distances , the NF BR will do fine .
Plenty of them around and they have a low failure rate . I think that model
was designed by the legendary Mr Shimizu when he was at Light Optic
Works . He now runs March Scopes . As mentioned above . The reticles
are not really ideal for running steel stages , and elevation is a little
limited . For single distance paper targets they are fine , especially if
you can get a good deal on a used or new old stock one .

EDIT : if it’s an 8 twist Tikka , it will love 80 grain Bergers and Varget .

Same question, found used Nightforce above, used Vortex PST 6-24xmil FFP EBR-1, and SightronS3,8-32x56, LRMOA Model 25149. Prices are pretty close to same +/- $200. Rank 1-3 for shooting off bench and non competition field shooting (hunting rocks and gophers. My Tikka is arriving in the next few days.

Like the others said, if your just shooting known distance, mostly paper for groups, that'll work fine. If you good with always dialing your elevation and wind, occasionally some Kentucky windage.
