Rifle Scopes Nightforce difference

Re: Nightforce difference

F1 3.5-15 = Front Focal Plane (FFP) reticle and is made in the US.

NXS 3.5-15 = Second Focal Plane (SFP) reticle and is made in Japan.

I *think* the F1 also comes with NF ultralight rings.

Re: Nightforce difference

To those of you who answered my question, quickly, precisely and without without taking offense at my obvious inexperience, thank you. To the guy from Texas: if you don't know, just say so...

Re: Nightforce difference

He knows, infact he has a NF on his rifle. I think he was making a good suggestion. These questions have been asked a multitude of times before. If you think he was rude just hang around.

The "hostility" keeps most new guys out that tend to be on the lazy/dumb side i.e. living in mom's basement. Not saying there's anything wrong with her basement though...as long as she keeps bringing meatloaf.

Re: Nightforce difference

Having been on here for a while, and reading a lot more than posting (and learning a lot more by reading, by the way) it is a lot quicker to ask someone that knows than try to find out the real skinny on Google. Like for instance that NXS is made in Japan. Thanks and I'll try to not be too thin skinned; I've seen some rather blunt replies. If you try to find a subject on the search, you'd better be really lucky or have a lot of time. Thanks again, to all....

Re: Nightforce difference

Your best bet is to call Nightforce and ask. Why trust some guy on a forum? The 1st reply on this thread is not entirely accurate.

Re: Nightforce difference

The F1 has the reticle on the first focal plane, not the front focal plane.

I may be mistaken about this, but the F1 is labeled as being made in the U.S., but I do believe that they are still using Japanese glass. Still, my NXS is labeled as having been made in Japan.

I'd also like to know what you think is inaccurate in <span style="font-style: italic">AJBello</span>'s reply.

You're not mistaken about the F1's glass being made in Japan - it IS. However, <span style="font-style: italic">it is assembled in the United States of a majority, i.e. 51% or greater, of U.S.-produced parts.</span> That is how the F1 AND MANY OTHER PRODUCTS are legally labeled as <span style="font-style: italic">"Made in U.S.A."</span>.

The non-F1 Nightforce scopes are not produced the same way as the F1.

Yes, compact models (1-4 & 2.5-10) are Made in USA along with the F1 according to NF. The other fullsize SFP scopes are "Made in Japan". If you pull up each model on their website, there is a US flag with MADE IN U.S.A. on the ones that are.

ETA - Not that it really matters. Both the NFs I've had were Japan models and they were extremely nice. I suspect the models that are made here are the ones the military is most likely to use, so they make em "berry compliant". But that's a SWAG.
