I was at a gun show yesterday in carlisle, pa. and there was a guy there selling nightforce scopes. Anyway, he was exlplaning cost and durability to every joe schmo how they were the best out there. In an hours time, he must have beat a 5.5 x 22 high speed/zero stop scope a hundred times as hard as he could. His table was broke in several places. I never could get close enough to catch a name or card. I would hate to be the one that buys one of his scopes.

Re: Nightforce Durability

Nightforce has an article on one of their scopes taking a bullet in the field and still being useable. That Nightforce he was beating will be just fine. They're one of the most durable scopes on the market.

you beat me to it....

Re: Nightforce Durability

So he was beating the hell out of a scope that's for sale? Not a demo? Durable or not, I sure wouldn't buy one from him either.

Put the article of the NF scope taking a bullet hole next to the picture of the Surefire w/ a bullet hole and save the spiel.

I doubt he does it to all the scopes he sells. But NF does at the factory, literally beat them I mean.

No more than any other "high-end" optic.

Re: Nightforce Durability

I was shooting my AR-10 off a bench and the sling got caught on me when I stood up. The rifle fell about 3 feet onto the concrete, upside down, scope first. It dented the sunshade, put a scuff mark on the ocular lens housing, and scared the hell out of me.

I did have to rezero - not sure if the scope slid in the rings or what. A few days later I left for a 3 day long class with it and it performed flawlessly.

They are tough!

I'm sure he wasn't beating up every scope he had for sale. That may just be the scope he carries to every show and beats the hell out of. It may be worth it to him since his dealer cost is I'm guessing around $1,200-$1,400, and that little show may get him some sells. I will have to admit, I would much rather see a guy beating the hell out of his demo products than that annoying bitch that's always at gun shows zapping a stupid flea market cell phone taser.
