I'm looking at the Nightforce 30mm 1.375" Unimount to replace a 3" offset cantilever mount because that height rides lower and gives me a better cheek weld. When I look these up, I find part numbers A191 and A192, but the picture is the same for both. Which is the extended one, and how much does it overhang the front of an AR receiver? Is it comparable to a 3" offset Vortex/ADM mount?

1.75" isn't going to cut it. I've tried the 2" offset mounts, and they only get some of my scopes far enough forward.

I've seen this one online:
http://www.dnzproducts.com/freedom-...-picatinny-rail/30mm-forward-ring-mount-black

But, it doesn't look anywhere near as solid as the Nightforce, and is nearly the same price. I don't need the 20 MOA the NF mount has, but it isn't going to hurt anything.

The top and the bottom are mine:

That is how forward I am mounting the scopes. Love the rigidity of the Spuhr, but I need to bridge the hand guard with it, which I don't like, and it is around 1.47" high.

PRI makes a rail with 3" overhang that is 0.450" high. With Seekins 0.920" rings, the scope would be at 1.370". The rail doesn't look as rigid as the NF either though. The GG&G scout rail looks nice and rigid, its 0.5" high but I'm not sure how much it overhangs the front of the receiver (specs. like that should be listed, seriously!), but I would need to use the 0.870" rings, and there would be interference between scope cap and the rail. The back would need to be machined to be like the RRA scout rail. The NF A192 seems like the best option if it hangs out far enough...

Managed to find a pic online of this mount on an AR. Looks like it will work well.

Got one of these mounts today. The height is perfect!

Offset is adequate and its very solid. Only complaint is that the rear ring is a bit far back. Should be moved forward about 1/4".
