Just got a brand new NXS 5.5-22 X 50

I noticed when I turn the knob that there is no change in the intensity of the light.

The manual says that you have to do it internally. This kind of has me baffled. I thought thats what the knob was for.

Anyway I went inside and turned the screw to adjust the intensity and now there is no light at all.

Maybe somebody can tell me what I'm doing wrong. I never had any trouble with my NF compact.

Re: Nightforce Illumination trouble

The compacts are not like the larger magnification versions. The knob on the side is not the illumination intensity, it is the parallax adjustment. Turn the screw you adjusted the other direction.

Re: Nightforce Illumination trouble

That big knob on the left is for parallax adjustment. The little screw on the inside (under the cap) is for adjusting the intensity/brightness. Turn it the other way.

Re: Nightforce Illumination trouble

The first thing I did was screw it back where I thought it was originally, but nothing.

The screw will keep turning either direction without stopping. I don't see how I could have stripped it using a jewelers screw driver and magnafying glass.

The light finally came back on but there is no intensity adjustment.

As easy as the screw turns, I don't know what will keep it from vibrating a fraction of a turn and shutting off.

Re: Nightforce Illumination trouble

the intensity setting is only about 1/16 of a turn on that screw
try it where its the most intense and see what happen when shooting it
dosent take a lot of pressure to turn I check mine and very easy
I would try after adjusting it to shoot it and see if it loose the setting

Re: Nightforce Illumination trouble

I just realized that further in the manual it says to be very gentle with the screw because it can be easily damaged if turned past the stops. So it looks like thats what happened.

A rugged scope until it comes time to adjust the illumination.

Or if you don't read the fuckin manual.

Re: Nightforce Illumination trouble

If I have any trouble I'll give them a call. I could put a dab of silicone sealant on the top of the screw to keep it in place.

rksimple, keep it civilized here or stay out.

Re: Nightforce Illumination trouble

I wonder why companies send directions with their products? Hummm
It's not rocket science bud! If you f'd it up, nx will prolly FIX it for free... give em a call.

Re: Nightforce Illumination trouble

human nature - you buy something and you want to get to playing with it as fast as you can. Especially men as we like to turn all the knobs before we ever read anything. As I have gotten older I have now learned to reaad th emanual first and play later but when I was younger - manual - who cares.
