Last year I bought a Remington 700P 308 and have yet to shoot it due to not having an optic. It's starting to get under my skin so I set a goal to be shooting by next summer.

After lots of reading here on the hide, I think I'm going to get a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x56 MLR MRAD. I would love an F1 to gain FFP, but it's not 56mm. I plan on getting either a Badger or NF 20moa base.

Does NF offer the 3.5-15x56 MLR in MRAD without zerostop? I'm not LEO so I'd never have a use for it AFAIK and it would help keep costs down.

If I did my math right, the NXS has 32 mils of adjustment, so that and a 20 MOA base should get my 308 out to 1000yds right?

Anyone disagree that this isn't a good scope for starters? I would love a Schmidt, but can't afford one.

Re: Nightforce NXS MRAD a good starter scope?

It would be a good starter and finisher scope. The 3.5-15x56 has enough adjustment range that you would not need a base with any moa built in. However it would be a good idea to get one anyway as they are generally the same price or very little more. Plus, down the road if you switch to another scope you may need one.

Yup i was in the same boat. I wanted one without zero stop but they discontinued them so i bite the bullet and got it with mrad and zs.

Mate the NXS lines of scopes are top notch! You cant go wrong with them

To be honest theres no such thing as too good a scope to start with.

Usually the better the scope, the better the quality and features and the most user friendly.

By user friendly I mean

- Tactical Turrets that can be reset
- matched reticles and turrets
- FFP is especially user friendly
- Better build quality means less headaches
- More confidence in scope means shooting errors are generally NOT blamed on equipment which is good for learners

I love the NXS line

Damnit. I have enough to buy one. BARELY. But the wife will flip her proverbial fucking lid.

Any of you NF Hide brothers have a garage I could live in for a few days?? LOL

Going to call Euro Optic tomorrow. Nice thing is, they're only 1.5 hours away. However, if I buy from them, I have to pay 6% PA sales tax

Can we really destroy them. That might be the only wat to get rid of them.

Great choice for a first scope. Wish it would have been mine. But I got one now.

Re: Nightforce NXS MRAD a good starter scope?

Since we are on the topic of NF scopes. Do/ have you guys noticed a difference in the 50mm obj lens VS the 56mm obj lens?
I see that NF sells the scope for the same price no matter what size you choose. But am I missing something here?
