Heard a rumor that Night Force will start carrying the Horus reticles. When I checked the Horus website the news column on the side also mentioned it but the link was broken.

The only info I could find as to an available date was from the NightForce website description of the 3.5-15X50 F1 (on the bottom it reads that the projected availability for the Horus site is September 2010)

I sent NightForce an email asking for details. I am really stoked about these reticles being offered by another quality scope maker as I have been desperately trying to get my hands on a USO with an H-25. If anyone has any other information about this please share. I will post NF's response when I get it.

If you don't mind me asking when did you purchase your USO's? Seems like the last run they had was back in July and its almost as if there's a lull in supply due to crappy quality and crappier customer service by horus to get it resolved.

Re: NightForce to carry Horus Reticles

Mine were victim to the crappy quality reticle from Horus too. They finally got a reticle to pass QC, but it was a crazy wait time, and John was ready to pull his hair out.

I will never buy another Horus product ever again. The two I have are flawless, and I love using the reticle, but the strife was unreal for such an expensive product. I'm AMAZED that company is still in business. Blows my mind.

Re: NightForce to carry Horus Reticles

I love the Horus reticle. If you can get them to send your scope builder one that's worth a damn, then kudos! I don't care how much I like the reticle, I'm done with the company.

I'm just glad I got two scopes with good reticles in them. Had three, but ended up getting fed up with it and having it swapped to an MLR.

Re: NightForce to carry Horus Reticles

I like there reticles and ballistic programs, but the wait is absurd.

When I had called Kiesel @ Horus and brought up some topics about QC and alternate manufactures in regards to USO, his response was they are working on it.

I had figured I got the usual lip service, however when I talked to Becky @ USO some time later there are some strides being made between the two and that USO is comitted to making the Horus option available since people still want it.

Having also dealt with Horus on some software problems and getting good results in the end it is hard for me to completlly write them off.

As others will ateast to there own dealings with Horus, it's easy to see the animosity generated.

One thing that I asked Becky was if I could buy just the reticle and wait for one to pass inspection, and then send the rest of the payment.

Her answer was "sure".

The outlay of $400 verses $1400 or $2800 is definatlly going to make waiting easier.

With all the headaches that Horus can give, I can see the $800 that Nightforce puts on this option.

In the end I ended up changing my reticle for the latest build to an MPR ,and I must say is excellent.

Waiting for a year and seeing no end in sight for a Horus reticle was enough.

Eventually I might look into another USO/Horus combo, but after using this MPR it is very possible that could change.

If one had a chrystal ball and knew something could be had in so many months it could work out, but the track record with Horus doesn't look good.

Don't wait, get some good glass now and think about it when one pops up for sale.

Good Luck

ps. Also the problems I had expeianced were due to having a lit reticle.

The Titanium Dioxide used to reflect the LED source was getting all over the reticle leading to sparkles everywhere.

If you are not looking for lume then your chances may be better.

Ah now that's the full story I was looking for. Do you find the illuminated H-25 even worth it since only a few features are illuminated?

After hearing the ordeal you guys had to go through the MPR is looking more desirable now. Man if USO offered a MPR or GAP reticle with the IPHY rangefinder in the lower left quadrant I'd be sold in a heart beat.

On the reticles USO offers the entire reticle is lit.

Horus scopes may be different, as there web site shows the illuminated reticle having only certain parts lit.

Why would you need the goofy rangfinder bracket ? just use the same calculation as everyone else uses with a Mil. based reticle.

T X 27.7 / Mils = yards or T X 25.4 / Mils = meters

Re: NightForce to carry Horus Reticles

Yeah but I really dig just using the the Known height inches/Measured Height X100= yard distance is so much easier than multiplying by 27.7 or 25.4. Combined with having a base 10 turret and matching reticle its the best of both worlds.

Damn really wish you didn't tell me that the whole reticle is lit. Guess I'll just get MPR and an H-25.

Re: NightForce to carry Horus Reticles

As promised here's the response I received from Nightforce for those that are interested.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Thank you for contacting Nightforce Optics.
We are looking to add the H-58 reticle to our F-1 line of optics. For additional information on this reticle, please visit, www.Horusvision.com.
With this reticle, Horus will be charging 500.00 per use.</div></div>

Not quite the H-25 I was hoping for. Decided to pull the trigger on a mil-scale mpr USO since a lot of members here really seem to like it.
