NightForce Tripod

No first hand experience with them, but I was really exited about them until I saw the anemic weight rating. It's something like 10-15lbs and for the same price I got a Feisol rated for 55lbs. If you need a tripod that turns into trekking poles, it's great. If not, get something different. Just my $.02

Thanks for letting me know the facts! I'm looking at it for my lab radar(prone position down low w/out the center) and sig kilo 2400. I'd like to pick up a nice spotting scope too. I thought i'd pick up a hog saddle to and start shooting more positional stuff. Guess not with shooting part. I think i would utilize the hiking pole part too. Can't believe its still 4Lbs. though?

The NF would probably be great for all of that except shooting. In that price range and weight, I'd look at a Feisol 3342. You'll still probably want a ball head or leveling base of some kind too. I'm running the 3342 with a RRS leveling base and it's spectacular.

There's other good tripods out there, that's just what worked for me. RRS stuff is expensive, but worth it if you can swing it. Manfrotto makes some decent stuff, but I like Feisol better personally.

Feisol all day long over Manfrotto. Grab a 3372 or 3342 and be done with it. They are super strong, support a rifle with ease, they will lay basically flat for prone shooting or to put your gaydar on. Just toss a RRS head on it and call it a day. I prefer leveling heads (RRS TA-U-LC) over the ball head (BH-55).

I pulled the trigger and bought the tripod today as my cheap aluminum one broke a adjustment on one of the legs last week. It might serve as a Kestrel weather station with the wind vain. New tripod will be for spotting scope set-up, Sig Sauer Kilo 2400 and Labradar. I purchased a 3D camera mount bar(8") across and its a sweet setup!! I'm really pumped to buy a real deal tripod.

Has anyone else purchased the Nightforce tripod, experiences?????
