I am interested in a Nightforce tripod, mainly for pack hunting and possibly a Mammoth match. The ability to unscrew the legs and use as trekking poles is appealing to me. I've heard compatibility issues with the head, so I will likely just replace the head with a feisol I already own.

Does anyone have experience with this tripod?
How stable is it for shooting? I don't expect it to be as stable as my PVA with RRS leveling head, but at least something useable.
Do the legs make decent trekking poles? Or just a gimmick?
Will I actually be able to swap to my own ball head?

Thanks.

I’d go with something else. I had a NF tripod. It wasn’t stable enough to shoot off of for me. Really only useful for a spotter. I got rid of mine and went to a Leofoto 324-c. It’s light enough that I can pack it around, but plenty stable enough to shoot off of. It’s obviously not as stable as a dedicated RRS or similar, but it will do when weight is a big concern.
