Rifle Scopes Nikon 12x42 Monarch ATB (all terrain binocular) +1

Re: Nikon 12x42 Monarch ATB - yes or no..

Are you looking for a scope in general or specifically a Nikon? If your looking for a scope I wouldn't worry about the gift certificate, and I would get what you want. You could always use the GC for ammo or accessories.

oops,

Well I have the nikon 10x50 action extreme, and the glass is very clear.

Check out www.bhphotovideo.com also for prices they are very competitive. I got mine through them, and they had free shipping and I got a 20 dollar gift card from them. Works out because I get all my camera gear through them.

I have a pair of the 8x's and for the money they're great glass +, am mulling a pair of the 10x56's.
My only thought is that 12x is alot of power for a 42mm objective and that may affect low light function.

Re: Nikon 12x42 Monarch ATB - yes or no..

Thanks for your responses. I pulled the trigger on the 12x42 Nikon Monarch ATB's in black (actually, they're a very dark charcoal type green color) and could not be happier. I've not really ever been into these types of optics, but I looked at many brands, and for my eyes, these things are amazing! I also replaced the objective lens caps with a set of Butler Creek #31 flip-up caps which are an instant improvement over what came with the binos. I plan on using these out west as well as vacations, hunting, etc. so I chose a higher power model, and I'm glad that there was one available in this price range. Suprisingly, the "sale" online on the Cabela's website was $309.00, but the store had them on
"sale" for $289.00!! Still could have found them cheaper online elsewhere, but I wanted to use the gift card that I had on an optic. I also considered the Leupold Acadia 10x42's, but found them to be a little more dark and more importantly, I did not like the functionality of the diopter adjustment - it just didn't seem to me like it would hold up under adverse conditions like ice and snow. As I mentioned, the Butler Creek flip-ups are a welcome addition to these outstanding binos! The Cabela's website has over 323 positive user reviews on this particular model giving it a 4.5 out of 5, and now I see why. For the money, these have proven themselves successful since their introduction. I highly recommend them for my fellow Hiders who may be considering a mid-grade quality pair of binos from Nikon!
