Has anyone had experience with the Nikon FX 1000 6-24x50 SF illuminated FX MOA? How would you rate it compared to the Vortex Viper PST gen II 5-25x50 EBR-2c MOA?

That was one of the scopes I seriously considered for my RPR. When I found I could get a Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 for very close to the same price the Nikon is going for by virtue of a PM to one of the vendors here I decided to go that route.

Are you satisfied with the Vortex?

Personally, I think the center of the reticle on the FX1000 is too busy. Otherwise it has some nice features. General opinion is that that the pst gen 2 has somewhat better glass. If you get the pst gen 2, I would opt for the ebr-2D reticle. It is a better reticle design IMHO. Of course you may feel otherwise. Eurooptics has them for $799.99 right now .

I have a couple of Nikon scopes and the zero stop is far superior to that of the Vortex scopes (IMHO). I also like the ballistic calculator that Nikon offers. I do agree that the Vortex glass is better. All in all, I'm probably going with the Vortex scope. I appreciate your input and the Europtics reference.

I upgraded from an Athlon Argos BTR. So far yes. I just got it last week. I mounted it on my RPR and took it out today. Nice clear glass. Positive clicks on the turrets. I'm still playing with loads so I didn't mess with the zero stop. I just zeroed it and did some shooting.

Best of luck with the new scope and thanks for your feed back.

Setting the zero stop on the pst gen II is not the most intuitive thing. But it seems to work well and is a solid/hard stop. It's not like the softer stop on the pst gen I or the HSTs that used shims (I'm fine with either personally).

Good luck Paul!
