I am about to order a scope for a Remington 700 sps tactical 223, 1/9 twist gun and wanted some input before deciding. For the money the Nikon M223 3-12x42mm scope looks like a good deal. Looking at putting the BDC reticle one on the gun when it gets here. Its going to be suppressed rig so I intend to shoot factory ammo and handloaded subs out of it. I will be working up tables for several loads. Any suggestions or experience with these scopes would be appreciated. Suppossedly they are built for ARs but they look like they would work for a bolt gun as well.

Re: Nikon M223 on a 700 question

I have a Nikon M-223 3-12x42 with Rapid Action Turret on my Savage 110 heavy barrel .223. It shoots lights out. 26 in. barrel, trigger job and free floated barrel.
I have let friends shoot it at 4 in. targets at 630 yards with outstanding results.
I think you made the right choice especially with the supressor. I would suggest getting a chrono. on the rounds you shoot to get a MV. Then go to Nikonhunting.com, click on the Spot On Logo, this will take you to the Spot On Ballistic Match Technology Program. There you can enter all your load data including the scope and get corresponding distances for each BDC circle at each Magnification settig on your scope. Go to, Generate Ballistic Reports, click Field Reference guide and you are on your way. I hope this information helps h. ?
Let me know how it all works out for you. I enjoy the heck out of mine, the Prairie dogs ,not so much!

Re: Nikon M223 on a 700 question

Tara it is. It is a JAVA based software.
I had to download java to my Apple, the site checks to see if your comp. has java and then if you do you can proceed to Nikon's SPot On site, if not, it enables you to download it for free. There is also a Nikon SPot On app for iphones. I just bought it yesterday and was playing with it, works just like the Spot On site. Should come in handy when hunting. I know Knight Armament makes a special holder for the iphone for thos so inclined to mount it to their AR. Looks pretty cool!
Hope this info helps Targ.?
