I am looking for a scope for my Savage Mark II FV-SR. I thought about a scope made for .22LR like the Nikon P-22. Any thoughts about this scope or other recommendations? Budget is $200 or less for now.

First off, great choice of rifles. I've been eyeing that rifle for a few months now, hopefully you will write up a review after you get all the extra's and some range time? The P-22 would work fine for you but you might also check out Nikon's PROSTAFF 3-9 Rimfire BDC 150. I have one on a 10/22 and love it. I have the P-22's on a couple of 22LR AR's and they also work great.

I went with the EFR 3-9x40 on my AR15 DPMS 22 upper and one on my air rifle. Its pretty handy being able to focus a 22 at 50 ft for indoor winter shooting. The 150bdc is handy too especially if your shooting steel or small games to longer distance.

There are lots of good posts on excellent trainer scopes; but if you have one of the Nikon scopes you can certainly make that work for you.

I have one of those scopes on a Ruger 10/22. If you don't find it matches up well with whatever ammo your rifle likes; then go the the Nikon website and use the Nikon Spot On tool to figure out the actual distances of the BDC for your particular load/realized fps. http://www.nikonhunting.com/page/spot_on

The Spot On website is a pain - makes you register every time you use it; but they do now have an ipod/android app.

You might find that with a 50 yd zero, the BDC is aligned @ some non-standard ranges. e.g. 78yds / 106yds/ 123yds etc.
