I wonder if an "I am sorry" from my wife would keep me from getting arrested?

I am thinking...probably not.

And LoL at "allegedly"...

So if a white guy did this I think they'd call it brandishing a firearm or felonious assault.
Got it

Let's see what happens when a white guy does pull a gun just like her husband did. Will the leftist media bring that to our attention?

The BLM protesters were pretty stupid to stay on the porch after he told them many times to get off with a pistol pointed at them.

I wasn't protesting but knocked on someone's door out in the country asking for help for some stranded motorists. We didn't have cell phones in those days.

Anyway, the homeowner opened the door and pointed a 1911 at my head. I didn't have to think twice about putting my hands in the air.

The homeowner was an idiot but I was smart enough to show him I was unarmed and put my hands in the air.

The dumbasses arguing with him could have been shot. The next time it could turn out differently.

doesn't the 'castle law' cover this?

In most states, the castle doctrine applies if the intruder is inside your house. The homeowner decided to open the door. That would have got an average person in big trouble elsewhere.

The man had every right to tell them to get off his porch. And from a moral stand point, I don't have a problem with him using a gun to back up his demand.

The problem is that in most states, the law doesn't look at it that way. Where I live, he would have been arrested and charged. As leftist as California is, I'm willing to bet that if it had been anyone else pulling a gun on the front porch they would have been arrested and charged.

You also don't get elected as a Prosecuting Attorney in LA without being anti-gun.

Oh well. Double standards are better than no standards at all

So that's how a "mob" arranges a meeting with someone at 05:40?
No provocation there, why the cameras already set up?
The D.A. stated that they were awakened and frightened (probably feared for their lives) so that applies to anywhere.
Castle doctrine type laws if the state has one applies to the threshold of the door open or not, or your vehicle.
Laws greatly vary from state to state.
So if you are mowing the grass and approached by a mob and "feared for your life" castle would not apply but other laws should provide protections.
When some states passed castle laws
The argument against was if a girl scout walked into the house uninvited selling cookies you could shoot her legally, NO because you didn't fear for your life or your family.

No legal advice intended, just my opinion.

If I was awakened by the doorbell at 5:30AM to be confronted by a hostile mob numbering 50 on my doorstep, I'd be a'calling the Popo and barricading myself in the basement.

While it might be an argument to consider that event as a direct threat to life and welfare; I'm just not enthused about taking on 50 angry people with a handgun that figuratively only holds enough ammo to enrage them further.

That lady married a fool.

The point of my post and @Longshot231 hit the crux of the issue...

Its not whether he was justified or not.

From what I have gathered so far, it is my opinion that his behavior was not justified given the situation.

But really the question is, would I get away with what he did (justified or not).

A: Nope

I never answer the door unarmed . Unless I am expecting company.
Last 2 times someone knocked on my door in the middle of the night .
I picked up my pistol and look out the window . Always keeping the weapon out of sight .
Once was two Sheriff deputies looking for some teen girl my son knew . Put my pistol away before opening the door .
2nd was a friend of mine who had a fight with his wife and was looking for a ride .
He knocked on the door at 2 in the morning . I woke up grabbed my pistol and looked out my window.
I saw a guy in my front yard with his hands in the air . Saying, Don't shoot me Mike .

I laughed my ass off . Said to my wife, its Chad .
He had walked like 8 miles bare footed from where he and the wife were camping . He had gotten into some crap with a young punk and his wife took the punks side . which lead to the fight with the Mrs. Yes drinking was involved .
I gave him advice to wear shoes the next time he went on a midnight road march . Gave him a ride the 15 plus miles to his house .

So you think the other 49 would charge if you dropped the first one?

Never ever take the low ground it's a good way to die.
They set fire to your home you are trapped.
As for handling the 50 people, you are just not prepared, trust me when the shooting starts they will scatter
