Went to visit my father, a veteran and NRA member, last night. He was really upset, that when he renewed his membership. He received this in this mail. "Just look at this #@!#$%^&*(!)@#$%^.......", he said.
My dad is the same guy, who has bitched for years because he never received his "Charlton Heston signature engraved silver bullet". This time I think he got a legitamate gripe.

I think the "offshoring" of our manufacturing sucks but facts are people want cheap crap and are happy with junk. That probably doesnt describe members of a precision rifle forum but take a look around and you will see you are surrounded.

Personally Id prefer the NRA keep the money they spend on promotional crap and use it for their 2A fight. I do like reading the AR magazine though so I will continue to accept that, besides the advertizing they sell helps the cause at the cost of fantasy articles. The poster that does not receive his AR should go online and make sure his preference is for the print version of AR and not the online version.

Love the NRA or hate the NRA the fact is they are effective and you do (litterally) get bang for your buck. They may not be your favorite firearms right group to contribute to but they certainly should be one that you contribute to.

Yeah, I'm a life member and get mail all the time wanting me to join the NRA and haven't seen my Am Rifleman mag in several years now
I agree. I really get tired of all the promotional crap they send out every week. I always try to buy and promote products made in the USA that provide American jobs, especially for our Veterans. When I buy Internet items from vendors, I always contribute to their Round Up Programs for the NRA.

i also vote in every election and will vote for the most Conservative candidate. None are perfect, but they're better than any alternative!

+1

I'd personally rather see the NRA use the money to create a network of members only pricing for needed things - group buys on insurance is already available...more would be cool.
I'd like to also see a list of Pro-2A businesses that is compiled and updated for the members to purchase goods from and support.

I wasn't bashing NRA in my previous post, and don't really care whether I get the magazine or not. I was just illustrating the fact that the NRA really could improve and save money by getting their crap together. They waste a lot of money soliciting me (and I'm sure thousands of other members) to join when I'm already a voting life member. I give money when I can, but the more junk mail I get begging for money it just naturally makes me NOT want to send any. They'd probably get more if they'd just leave me alone and concentrate on non-members. And offering Chinese trinkets as bait turns me off even more.

Their promotional crap is disturbing so I wouldnt blame anyone for the frustration.

I give NRA my membership dues and thats it. Thing is actual membership some 4-5 million is not even a scratch of the estimated 100 million gun owners in the US. If every gun owner was a member the 2A would be well secured.

If Iwant to give more money to the NRA I buy a co worker or some fence sitter a membership.

If I want to give more money to help the cause I give it to the NRA-ILA. By law the NRA is limited in its political activity but the ILA works in the trenches with the snakes trying to fight for the 2A. Giving money to the ILA is where the fight occurs.

I agree with what you've said but the vast majority of people just like getting "free" stuff. Trinkets, free junk, call it what you like it works.

Look at that "free" bottle openers, bar-b-que rub and ball caps that Larue "gives" out.
