Hey All,
I could use a little help here. I'm brand new at longrange shooting, actually I haven't even begun yet, but I've always had an interest in stretching my hunting abilities out and trying it. I met an area farmer with a 1000yd range who has invited me to shoot anytime I want. My rifle, atleast for now, will be my 700 in 6mm rem. My load calculates to a 334.6" drop at 1000yds with a 100yd zero. Other than this very informal shooting my only use for the rig will be coyote hunting.
I've been reading many of the threads here and have settled between a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14X50 and a Sightron S111 6-24X50.

Now for my question. In my studies here I've seen it repeated many times that the only downside to the Zeiss is the internal adjustment range. Zeiss website claims 68"/100yds of "square adjustment range". I'm not sure what this means exactly. Will this combo, either with a standard base or a 20MOA base have enough adjustment for me to reach out to 1000yds. I honestly don't know how to calculate this. Have I even given enough info for this to be calculated?
Any help is appreciated.

Re: Noob needs help with elevation calculations

Short class your scope is either 1/8" or 1/4" MOA's =8 clicks =1 inch or 4 clicks = 1 inch this is at a 100 yards this translates to 10 inches at a 1000 yards. This means that a 175 gr.308 traveling at 2600 fps will need 39.25 MOA's for a 1000 yards. You have 68" at 100 yards or 680" at a 1000 yards.
