So I have always been wanting to shoot long range. Well my father in law showed up with several rifles to do so. .50 cal, 338 lapua and a 223 bull barrel.

So for now I have a savage 223 (I think model 112?) bull barrel that I am wanting to get a decent scope for to shoot 600 yards or so. I am new to all this and I know you get what you pay for but what would be a good learner scope and entry level scope.

I have found the stickys to read to learn more so be prepared to help a noob.

I'm in the same boat as OP and was wondering what mount and rings for a new scope...say 3-12x56 on an AR platform 308 rifle? Would this need the additional 20 moa height and or cantilever? Hope this is on topic enough so as not to hijack this thread.

LARUE makes a good quick detach 20 MOA scope mount
