Interested in doing more shooting with a 22 LR AR.
For those of you that have gone that route, have you chosen to get a complete unit like the S&W 15-22 or just bought an upper like the Nordic Components?
Also, what do you like about each, as far as weight, accuracy, ect?
Thanks

Re: Nordic Components or S&W 15-22

I have been using the Nordic upper for over 8 months now I have had zero issues with it and think it has been the best training tool I have added in my safe in the last few years!! Over 6000 rounds and NO malfunctions!!

Re: Nordic Components or S&W 15-22

+1 for the complete S&W 15-22, I have 2000+ Rounds through mine and have rarely have FTF or FTE when using the proper HV ammo. When using normal ammo I see FTF or FTE maybe at a rate of 5 out of 100 rounds which just helps to work on clearing drills etc. It is lighter than a true AR, and I have yet to actually sit down on a bench and do a group size with it, as I use it purely for doing different drills. I have no problem hitting a pop can at 50yds tho.

Edit: Added accuracy and weight

No brainer for me Nordic components upper, more reliable and you have your same trigger stock setup. A few different barrel configurations available to help you match weight of your full size rig.
The above poster states a 5% failure rate with his S&W rifle which would be unacceptable for me.

Nordic for me.

Next range trip will put me over 13,000 rds with mine. We shoot Steel matches and shoot.... A BUNCH!

No problems, plenty accurate, and goes bang every time. I like the weight, about the same as a 223 AR.

I really like my Excel ARM X-22r. It is a really improvement over a 10/22 I think, plus it is much lighter and cheaper than a Nordic or any other tactical aluminum stock for a 10/22. They are selling online for around $370. The only thing I don’t like is the lack of ability to use iron sights but some people maybe be working on it, and I hear that a YHM .625 will fit over the barrel perfectly and be the same high as the receiver.

NOMAD, et al, how is the forearm attached on the Nordics? Easily removed? Has anyone successfully replaced them with a railed system or standard handguards (MOE)?

I would really enjoy a NC, but would want a FSB. Actually...wondering now if I could simply have a FSB installed forward of the NC rail. Hrmm...
