Nosler brass worth the extra $$

Re: Nosler brass worth the extra $$

I bought it and liked it. It looked as good as the Norma brass I own. Would I buy it again? Only if I couldnt get the lower cost brass to shoot well.

Re: Nosler brass worth the extra $$

I've used it in my .300 mag before. The first two boxes I bought were great. The last box I bought was not so good. I guess it is like any american made brass, some batches are great others are not. Overall, I would buy it again, but I wouldn't expect it to be on the same level as Lapua or Norma.

From my understanding Norma makes it.

I like Nosler brass and whether its worth it or not can only be asnwered by you becuase it all depends on what you are looking for...Remmy brass will shoot fine and since its not as soft as the Nosler brass tends to handle pressure better from my experiences...Remmy brass needs more prep work to bacth the brass if you choose to do this...Nosler comes sorted ready to go. So in my hectic world the extra money spent means more time shooting and less time prepping.

Things may have changed but when I bought 40 rds of nosler ammo about 1.5 years ago the 338 rum was loaded on remmy brass. It was the stuff in the plastic box with the moose on the label.

Re: Nosler brass worth the extra $$

I understand wanting to have the best you can, but the way I look at it is I'm not in a benchrest competition where hundredths of an inch matter. We've all seen guns shoot damn good with every kind of brass made.

Case in point, I tried Nosler brass. Like I said, I'm not a benchrest shooter. I'm also not am expert. But to me, there was no difference (compared to winchester). Gun shot the same. Brass reloaded the same. I reload in volume so I just couldn't justify the extra cost.

Re: Nosler brass worth the extra $$

I've run Nosler brass in my 260, along with Rem & Lapua. The Nosler required even less prep than the Lapua did and has been very accurate for me. Some folks have had primer pocket issues; I've got some brass on 5-6 firings and most pockets are still strong using WLR primers.

That said, I don't have any issues with Remington brass although it doesn't quite seem to have the longevity of Nosler in my experience.
