Is anyone using these in their .308 with good results? I have a Remington Mil Spec that likes Bergers and SMK. Wondering if I should try the Nosler bullet for a cheaper in price option?

you are thinking of Nosler hunting bullets not their competition bullets. They come in 100 or 250 and they are cheaper than SMK's. I use them and find them accurate as SMK's in 223 and 308.

Re: Nosler Competition Bullets

I've used the Nosler Custom Competition 6.5 mm 140 gr bullets in my 260. Shot great for the 30 rds I was able to put through it before I had to go on another company trip. best group was about just under .5 MOA at 100 yds. I will much better report on them in about a month.

Re: Nosler Competition Bullets

I shoot the 69gr in my .223 Rem, 168gr & 175gr in .308 and have noticed no loss of accuaracy or had any other issues. I like that I can get both the 69gr and 168gr in 1k boxes, but the 175gr only come in 100 and 250 round boxes.

Presently Powder Valley has the best online prices I've seen. The 175's are listing for $62-63 for a box of 250.

Re: Nosler Competition Bullets

You can occassionally buy from Midway boxes of 1000 at a great price. Nosler also has direct sales and blows them out sometimes. If all else fails you can buy them also from Powder Valley always for a fair price.

The 168s shoot great. The 77 gr 223s shoot good too.

good luck

Re: Nosler Competition Bullets

Economics has caused me to entirely switch to CC's for the AR service rifle loads. The gun doesn't seem to mind.

My bolt action .223 actually preferred the 52 BTHP CC to the green box. My .22-250 ate both and were .3 grain apart for happiness.

Midway has increased their price, but Powder Valley hasn't yet FYI.

EDIT: I failed to notice originally that both .223 & .308 1000pks were OUT of STOCK. I don't know if PV allows you to backorder and lock in that price.

Seriously, I've had good results with them in a couple flavors, 107's, 155's & 168's

Re: Nosler Competition Bullets

I weigh my bullets and the Nosler comp's are more consistant tha the SMK. The tip is also more concentric than the SMK. Guess if you trim the meplat it doesnt matter much though.

Price wise, Ive bought mine cheaper than SMK... Comes in 250rd boxes.
