Re: Not a Tactical Rifle, but...

WOW. That is crazy. That man has skill. The only way you could get more handcrafted than that would be to go mine your ore and cut your own tree.

Re: Not a Tactical Rifle, but...

Handcrafted is the preferred description, not homemade. Homemade would be if I did it

. I was just thinking what the cost of that would be, then I remembered the old saying "If you have to ask...".

Re: Not a Tactical Rifle, but...

He puts it in the post right at the end...5,000 base. 7,500 for what you saw in the thread. Really, that is not too shabby for exhibition grade English walnut and that kind of craftsmanship.

Re: Not a Tactical Rifle, but...

cm92,

If you look at exhibition grade English walnut blanks, they will run you upwards of a grand themselves, plus the cost for labor, parts, and time and 7500 is not a bad price. In fact, it is rather reasonable considering some mass produced rifles such as blasers are going for upwards of 50,000 on gunbroker. Granted, the blaser that is selling for upwards of 50 G's is a nice rifle, but not 50 G's worth of nice. Some shotguns such a Krieghoffs are going for 10K for their base model and upwards of 80,000 for some of their exclusive models. I am not saying I have any desire for anyone of the above, but to have what amounts to a one off rifle (he builds them when he can between building knives from what he said in the thread) 7500 is not a bad price to pay. People on this site have some stuff that goes for far more than that. To each there own. I just thought it was quite the display of craftsmanship to design, forge, shape, and fit every last piece of that rifle. Awesome.

Same here, I'd be impressed if he just made it from a solid billet, or even just fitted the barrels and wood to a production receiver, but for him to forge his own Damascus and produce the action from scratch, damn. Definitely a craftsman of unbelievable skill.

Re: Not a Tactical Rifle, but...

It is a verry impressive thing to watch and I am going to follow it through to the end. WOW!!

Of course I have alwayse had a soft spot for good Damascus and custom rifles

Re: Not a Tactical Rifle, but...

Some people can make it look easy. Kinda overwhelming that one person can have all that talent. I can make a mean potato cannon out of pvc, glue, some deck screws and a gas grill ignitor.....anyone ready to be impressed?
