Nra email about yeti coolers

I’m sorry....from the outside looking in:

You have a group who’s sole existence is based on never making progress but always pleading for $$, extorting another company.

At no point in all of this does the NRA ever take any guff for having supported Yeti over an American company like Pelican.

I gotta tell ya, I am giggadee about the prospect of folks packing their Yeti coolers full of tannerite and making youtube - it’d equate to that he/she who cries about Britany Spears....

Id be happy if the NRA would only buy the cheap ass hats they hand out from an American made company. Their stance in claiming to be the bastion of all that is American while buying this cheap ass shit to reward me for trying to have them advocate for my natural rights.

Save the money and punch harder.

As cool as it would be to have an original Mod 29, only because I was a huge Harry Callahan fan growing up, I hold a grudge all to steadfastly to do so. Just ask my ex wife.

I begrudgingly went along with my girlfriend when she bought an S&W M&P 9C, only because she shot it so much better than my Glocks, Sigs, or 1911 frames. Small hand issues, I have none, but she does. I still haven't shot the thing.

My pinned and recessed 3 inch 27-2 is one of the finest guns I own.

My Model 52-1 was designed to make even Stevie Wonder the best pistolero on the line.

I salute your principles.

I am weak.

I think the bigger point is that the NRA has a vested interest (literally a life or death interest) in not making progress on 2A rights. To keep gun owners perpetually frightened that their rights could be stripped is to ensure the future of the NRA. They bill themselves as the solution, but are 1/2 of the problem. The book, Glock: The Rise of America's Gun by Paul M. Barrett goes into some depth about this and the complicity of the NRA and gun manufacturers in the writing of gun control laws. Let's face it, scared gun owners buy guns...

Added to that, a company should be able to end a partnership without a huge brouhaha ensuing. Why does the NRA expect special treatment from Yeti? Why do NRA members expect special treatment from Delta? How about a big "hey NRA, we love ya, but our partnership isn't working out anymore so we're ending it. It's not you, its me. No hard feelings."

The above notwithstanding, I think Yeti stepped on their dicks- big time!!

No, I don't own a Yeti or any other "high end" cooler. Ice is like $1.50 per bag, and my refrigerator makes it for... FREE... If my cooler runs out of ice- why the fuck would I let that happen- I'll drain some water and add more ice. "Well, well, what if you're 50 miles in the back country when you run out of ice?" I didn't get that heavy assed cooler back there on my back, so I'll get in my pick up and go get some more ice. But, if I'm that far back I probably planned ahead for ice needs anyway. "Well, well, what if your 4 hours out on a charter fishing expedition?" I paid the charter a good chunk of change to plan ahead. They can buy, fill, and carry the cooler...

I told Yeti what I thought in a non vulgar but direct way and here's their week-end response:

i-PCRsJhZ-M.jpg

Yeah I imagine they are wondering how they can unfuck this and Im guessing the new marketing guy that pushed it is looking for work.

Thing that gets me is that the exterior dimension of the cooler is huge than you open it up and the 3 inch insulation walls take up all the capacity.

My 30 year old igloo will actually hold a weekends food and on Sunday afternoon there is still ice in it as long as I scare the shit out of the kids to the point they close it securely.

Keep in mind fellas...if this is their stance do not give them away in protest.....destroy them even though they were expensive. I have one cooler on stand by for target practice if they don't issue a full apology.

...if they don't issue a full apology.
I'm not a fan of apologies from companies for decisions that come from their head office, as their original intent was their true intent yet they will apologize when they realize it was a bad business decision. It's one thing for a company to apologize for an employee's actions that were not in line with their standards, think the cases where Joe/Jane Doe the Social Media Specialist makes a bad tweet or FB post on behalf of their company, or the McDonalds employee refuses to serve a cop. But this communication doesn't sound like something that was done at the lower levels, this is what they really meant, and any form of apology is really nothing more than saying "We're sorry we lost so much revenue." Kind of like a spouse apologizing for cheating, they knew damn good and well what they were doing in the first place, they're only sorry they got caught.

I got a reply from YETI :

"We're writing in response to your recent email inquiry.
A few weeks ago, YETI notified the NRA Foundation, as well as a number of other organizations, that we were eliminating a group of outdated discounting programs. When we notified the NRA Foundation and the other organizations of this change, YETI explained that we were offering them an alternative customization program broadly available to consumers and organizations, including the NRA Foundation. These facts directly contradict the inaccurate statement the NRA-ILA distributed on April 20.

Further, the NRA-ILA stated in that same public communication that "[YETI has] declined to continue helping America's young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities." Nothing is further from the truth. YETI was founded more than 10 years ago with a passion for the outdoors, and over the course of our history we have actively and enthusiastically supported hunters, anglers and the broader outdoor community. We have been devoted to and will continue to directly support causes tied to our passion for the outdoors, including by working with many organizations that promote conservation and management of wildlife resources and habitat restoration. From our website to our film footage and from our social media posts to our ambassadors, YETI has always prominently featured hunters pursuing their passions. Moreover, YETI is unwavering in our belief in and commitment to the Constitution of the United States and its Second Amendment.

Guys, guys, guys,

It hit me this morning about 2:00. Think Market Share. Yeti owns as much market share as they do, no more, no less.

If you really want to mess with them, SELL your existing cooler at half price at the swap meet, ebay, amazon. Yeti won't get any more market share than they already do, but a good park of it will shift to the used Yeti market.

Now take that 50% you just got and put it into one of their competitors.

Instead of burning, blowing up, or destroying a cooler giving them the chance to sell one at full retail, they just had a sale stolen. That will be a double whammy to the financials.

I like that line of thinking, I've been checking out some of the competition for awhile now and some of the outside the box thinking others have implemented as far as accessories.

I prefer to fish out of a kayak and companies like Orion and other have a lot of features geared towards that type of use.

Ditto. So...who's lying?

I think they both might be lying, and they both might be telling the truth. If the NRA was getting some type of sweetheart deal, Yeti could have moved them to what everyone else so they can defend themselves as giving the same deal to the NRA as everyone else.

Quite possibly the NRA purchases more units, and quite possible they should receive a better deal, but who knows.

What I don't think Yeti realizes is if the left goes after them, it won't matter if they gave the NRA the same deal as everyone else. They will be tried and convicted in the court of social media and sentenced to boycott BECAUSE they took blood money from the NRA.

I'm sure some 17 year old will step up and buy what they lose from not selling to the NRA. I just don't know how many of those coolers are going to fit in mom's basement.

Actually, looking at any information regarding why they would pull away, it is interesting that 3 weeks ago they pulled their IPO from the market. Now, when a company going IPO pulls back; it is usually telling of something.

The best reason is that they do not want to make their books public and have to abide by stresses placed on a public company by the Board of Directors/ Stockholders/ Mutual Funds... aka "the Street".

The worst can be a multitude of things:
1. All discovery of Supply Chain, Suppliers, Margin's etc...
2. They found something that they did not want to go public... somewhere in the book keeping.
3. Fraud, Criminal stuff that would be hashed out in the Audits... or known to someone in Sr. Mgt.

Now, I don't know anything about why they might have pulled back from the Street. But having analyzed business models and IPOs for years past.. I would bet it would be this:

"Yeti sells a brand. And that Brand Value is better suited to be hidden by the opaque shield of a non-public company." Once they go public, that Brand Valuation gets put into "Goodwill" of valuation of future return on "Brand" that almost never comes true... Why? Because there are at least 10 different Channels to market with comparable product and better pricing. They do not do anything better than anybody else...

Just my humble opinion...

But I would like to hear why they are pulling away from the NRA Foundation.

Just to follow up in light of YETI's response....

1. The lack of quick response to the email from the Past NRA-ILA President concern's me. Do you not remember the AI fiasco? If I recall the CEO left a banquet to make a call to some industry leaders, including our Forum Operator, to clear up a reporting edit mistake. That's called being on the ball and realizing how important Brand Equity is to keeping your business sustainable.

2. IF they did indeed restructure their Partner Programs... well that is just an opportunity for Brand Identity through a nice Press Release showing the breadth of your Brand. Why was this not done?

3. Who in their right mind allows this to fester for a whole weekend? Really? You make the announcement and leave for the weekend and then offer up a MEME based apology online?

SO.. in light of what ever happened, this is my opinion. If a company's PR/Sr. Mgt Team lets something like this fester, I call into their decision making ability that is fostered from the top people. Which means that a bad decision could easily be made by their Buyers, Sourcers, Packagers, etc... And it tells me that people that offer consumer products that do not have good operational decision making... could mess up and the next thing you know... what saved them $.05/lb of stainless steel is from a China Smelter that did not sort out the Food Processing Plates.. and now my daughter is drinking from a radiating mug. Or BPA plastic.. or bad paint.. hell.. anything. Just my humble opinion.

I happen to be a Yeti dealer.....sent an email demanding an explanation. We'll see what happens and report back.

I was thinking about down channel retailers as well. They didn't even understand that by not getting in front of this, they put a lot of pressure on dealers and small retailers by having inventory that could see a significant drop in velocity. That puts you in a bind... inventory is Cash on Hold.

Let us know what happens!!

This makes sense, there is more behind the scenes and it's also the way lobbies and modern politics work. Whether it's feminism, abortion, any single issue, there is no good reason for their lobbies to compromise and "solve" the problem that would only cut off the money train and put them all out of work.

For that matter the NRA could well be extorting it's "partners" for sweeter deals much the way Jesse Jackson, Southern Poverty Law Center, Al Sharpton and others extort companies lest they be called out for being bad people. Wayne LaPierre probably has a son-in-law with a law firm who needs to be hired by Yeti lest Yeti fall from grace (I am making this up, just speculation but it's how stuff goes down I think).

When I started shooting I gave money to the NRA but I might as well have used it for toilet paper. Not a whimper from the NRA when Cuomo passed the NY SAFE Act in the middle of the night.

No love for Yeti since before all this happened, as much because they hype their all-American value while making their stuff in low wage, low regulation countries. Any company whose product is mainly plastic and foam is probably offshoring to avoid environmental regulations, they probably have poisoned their workers. Even though I'm some kind of AltRight hard ass that's still immoral in my book.

I used to own an ad agency. A lot of the bottom dwellers, they kind of people who do direct mail advertising to demented little old ladies asking for donations... they went into lobbying. Now just look at the junk in your mailbox.

FYI, banks are now calling "unofficially" and nudging companies and sporting goods stores to stop carrying AR15 and semi-auto guns in general.

FYI, banks are now calling "unofficially" and nudging companies and sporting goods stores to stop carrying AR15 and semi-auto guns in general.

One of the best proven ways the left uses to combat this...
Get a protest permit for outside the house of the bank CEOs Make sure they know more busloads arrive till they agree
Hire some people to be the protesters, have someone print out the signs & hand them out, hire someone to do chants
Sit back and enjoy the news.

Then move on to anybody with large blocks of voting stock and anybody else down the chain of command.

Pretty much the script when the Obama Administration wanted the banks to do a few things their way.

It's happening.........

Yeti doesn't give deals...at least any that are significant enough to push margins. Their inventory position toward the end of last year was so bad my company started fining them along with other suppliers that could not keep up. Pretty fair to say that I along with others have done a pretty darn good job selling their products. Are they going to give a shit if I close it out....probably not. The Pelican guy keeps dropping off freebies though.

Still waiting for that/any response.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-govern...demanded-nra-cease-using-cooler-company-logo/

A response from NRA regarding Yeti telling them to remove Yeti from their advertising and digital assets. Sounds like someone (Yeti) was responding to media events and doesn't realize who bought their products.
Hammer concluded her statement by noting, “Whether this is due to the recent cancellation of the IPO from their New York City owners is a question only they can answer.”

OUCH! LOL!

I would say that given this we now know whose lying, and why the NRA went ahead and exposed them. Demanding that the NRA remove all Yeti branding off of everything pretty much puts the lie that this was just some shift in sales/marketing.

I say that's pretty much weapons free against Yeti and "their New York City owners"! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Have to asked them the proceedure for returning unsold inventory for a full refund?

Apparently the Yeti management thought they could pull a fast one with the truth & pretend nothing happened after they were caught red handed.
Maybe they didn't think the NRA kept copies of their Virtue Signalling SJW written "Demand" letters & harsh abrupt cutoff actions?

It's about time those on the side of freedom start to show that we too can hit back hard when companies decide to fight against freedom to be "politically correct".

The war against freedom is being waged on many fronts.
The legal front everybody can see and knows about.
But the Economic front is just as important and even more so.. If you can legally have guns but nobody can sell them to you without having a cabal of SJW bank executives cut off their bank accounts... do you have your freedom any more?
If you talk about your guns and a cabal of SJW technocrats who control modern communications decide all accounts and access / discussion places you talk about it on should lock you out... do you still have the same freedom any more?

There will be the usual apologists who try to claim "private companies" can do anything and we should let them. The issue is these are NOT some private individual, they are big corporate entities that are being used in coordination to do an economic attack on anyone who believes in freedom. It's like saying that sure you have free speech, but if you say anything the SJW crowd don't whole heartedly agree with, we'll make sure you can't get a job, buy, sell, have money, use a bank account, have a house... but it's not the "government" so it's just fine.

While I'm sure there are a ton of SJW types in these big corporations & banks, in the end they are slaves to money & balance sheets. They may think they look great on Liberal Social media sites, but if their business & stocks start to tank too fast, they will learn their lesson rather quickly as in the end money is what those that actually control things care about.

So I'd suggest we should all do our best to make Yeti loose as much market share / business / money as possible by not buying their stuff, not letting friends buy their stuff & encouraging everyone to buy from somebody else. We need to make an example of them to keep the next SJW corporate executive from thinking they can get away with the same stuff.

Just like I'm pretty sure despite what Delta claims, a lot of executives had to take a look about how a little SJW tantrum to virtue signal themselves by hating on the NRA for no good reason wound up causing them millions in costs, once they lost their little under the table sweetheart tax deal over it.

Well,

The thread has me looking even though I have several Yeti's. Ran across this youtube (I know, lots of variables) cooler challenge.

Surprising how far down they rated the Yeti in a 5 day ice challange:
1. Orca Coolers 58Q: http://amzn.to/1WDbx4g
2.Pelican ProGear Elite 45Q: http://amzn.to/1WDaWQ6

With summer coming, time to start braking out the coolers!
Maybe it will help someone for their summer purchase, by NOT buying a Yeti!

I have several Yeti's but wish I had seen this review first.

Anyway, I've bought into how great the uber expensive Yeti's are.. I always thought ya, they are heavy and expensive, but they are the best.. LOL Dumb is as Dumb does, that is me alright.

Not even sure why Yeti is still around. RTIC exposed their virtual robbing of customers by selling almost the exact same product for a fraction of the cost.

Yeti didn't care they were making astronomical margins because they were a niche product in a sporting community. I'm not surprised they didn't care about their image and who buys their products in this situation.

I have a feeling they care now. How many dirty hippy, SJWs have $800 for a freaking cooler?
I guess they'll find out how many need to keep their kale fresh in the back of a Prius on the way to a Soros paid for protest. But from the sounds of things, they already found out how many people want to buy their overpriced offshore made junk before all this mess came up, and the answer was "Not enough to satisfy our NYC overlords."

Well, I just ordered two Pelicans; a 30 and a 70 to replace the Yeti 35 and 75. We'll see if I survive the wifey finding out. I'll try placating her by offering to sell my Yetis to her daughter and son-in-law for 3 Benjamins.

I just sent a message to Yeti regarding this entire fiasco. I sincerely wish they had allowed more than 1,000 characters for the message. I didn't need much more than they allowed. I really wanted to wish them the best of luck with their new target demographic. Below is what I sent to them:

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Recently I wrote to you expressing my concerns regarding your decision to sever your ties with the NRA.

I pointed out that in the past I purchased your products for gifts and raffle prizes. I personally own several of your products, and until this incident I highly regarded your products.

Unfortunately, as a company, you seem to have lost sight of the demographic of your customers. As an individual, I only own a few of your products; however as a member of a larger organization, we are responsible for a not insignificant purchase and promotion of your coolers and add-on accessories.

I've read your response to this situation both in the response you sent to me and others, and your refute of the NRA notice to it's members.

I am very disappointed in the response and having to sever our relationship.

Tonight I have initiated a relationship with one of your competitors, Pelican, and hope it will become mutually beneficial.

Pete
