All,

I’m new to the thermal game and am just trying to get started.

I have an opportunity to get a 2010 military an/pas-13D (V1). It’s a 2x optical 25micron i believe. For a good price. I just don’t know if it’s better then new technology used around the same price point. I have found used apex38s and other pulsar and atn models for around same price.

The scope looks awesome but then again i don’t have anything to compare against. Some people have said it’s a tank and quality at that price point , great FOV and a good unit. But i haven’t gotten any honest feedback if newer tech is better.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you compare the numbers I'm sure you'll find some of the newer stuff does perform better. But to what degree and how much that'll affect you, I can't say. It's not a collimated clip on so you can't use it in front of day scopes. It's a stand alone thermal scope. And yeah, they were pretty well built. But the tech is about 20 years old, so yeah, count on some of the newer stuff being better across the board and with more functions. And more cost.

I have used these and they worked well as I recall, we got our first ones in 2003 I think. Black hot/white hot. Pretty simple unit. It was on a 240, may have been the HWTS. There's three, a light, medium and heavy unit. More magnification than 2x would be ideal, not sure if the different sizes have different magnification, but I wanna say the one we had for the 240 did have more magnification than that, maybe 4x or 6x but I could be wrong, it's been a long time.

If you decide against it, PM me, I may be interested. I really need a cilp on, something to save for the future, but if the price is right I may be willing to forgo that.

I know another guy on here wanting to sell his Armasight clip on thermal I can put you in touch with if that's more up your speed. I think it does color as well black/white hot. Couldn't come to a trade deal with him over a rifle, but perhaps you two could come up with something. Just PM me.

What’s the value on a 2010 an/pas-13D LWTS?

I’m ok with a stand alone thermal as i have plenty of other rifles with day scopes/holo sights etc. I just can’t find a lot of people selling these and or info on them. So comparing a newer pulsar against it i just don’t have the knowledge to do so.

I think there is some confusion between the various PAS13 models. The 13B dates from the early 2000s. The 13C D and E from around 2008 and are totally diferent. Others may chime in but I think the image quality is comparable to later units. They are just bigger and heavier.

It was made in 2010. Like i said one I’m looking to see what this thing is worth and if I’m giving to much for old tech. 2 would i be better off buying a used commercial grade pulsar with more magnification and newer tech with the same money.

The one i have is fairly small , or as big as my atn xsight hd probably.

What’s the value on this thing? Could i resell
It later if i decide a newer mode
Is better?
