Hi Guys,

I have been looking at thermal scopes for hog hunting/coyote. Have it narrowed down to these two. The halox 50mm or the reap-ir 60mm. The Halo looks like it has more features that I would like and seems like the image quality is top notch. The trijicon is definitely more money but I am curious if it is more robust then the Halo. I dont plan on dropping my rifle from a helicopter and I am not military but there is a certain satisfaction in knowing you got a stout scope that can be banged up. Thoughts on the two?

I am sure we cant discuss pricing but it seems like everyone out there is the same price (essentially full retail). If you can pm me prices/best dealers for the deal that would be great. Obviously if there if a site sponsor who has great pricing I would support them. Appreciate any and all help.

The biggest functional difference between the Halo-LR and the Reap(or Mk3) 60mm is the reticles. The Halo-LR has mil-hash reticle you can use to hold for shots in the 250-500yds distance bracket, whereas with the Trijicon reticles you have none-such and are just using the critter as the reticle, which depending on how flat your cartridge is, well doesn't work too well beyond 250-300yds ... i.e. you're basically limited to PBR with the Trijicons, but not with the Halos.

the more I learn about the halo the more I like it. I just hope it is rugged and weatherproof. The buttons are now on the top so if you are in rain they are gonna get soaked

Love the Halo I just got, love the Nox I just played with. Really love the 5-year bumper to bumper warranty and ease of getting people on the phone at Nvision.

I spent a bunch of time behind a ReapIR and SniperIR, even whatever the pre-Trijicon IRD convertible clip-on/stand alone version was (can’t remember the name). They didn’t suck but I really like the Nvision interface, size, weight, and warranty more.

A buddy has 3 ReapIR 60mms and all seem to have a different brown or blue tint. I’m told that’s due to varying lens compositions where Nvision uses pure Germanium. Can’t verify whether it’s true or not but I bet one of these guys in here will know.
