IMHO unless you are a bench rest shooter the 32 power is way way too much. I have two of the 5.5-22x and have no problem with them. There are plenty of people here with same scopes shooting 1000yards or more. Also, usually the mirage is horrible past 20x which makes the extra power pretty useless.

8-32 but keep in mind you are limited to 65MOA elevation vs 100 for the 5.5-22.Likely you will only be able to use 32X early in the morn because of mirage.

For PD's, I would run a 3.5-15. That way when the mirage is bad, you can still use the reticle on the scope @ 15x vs the 22x...YMMV...

5.5-22x is MORE than enough for your purposes (and arguably...22x may be too much depending on your shooting conditions but you can always dial down the power accordingly).

Since you didn't mention any kind of Tactical Comps where ranging is required and stated target and PD shooting, myself I like having as much power available as I can get so I use a 12-42 Nightforce for most everything. If the mirage is so bad you can't see at 12X then you might as well go on home and save the ammo.

More power is nice, but the 32x is overkill and with power turned all the way up, it really limits the amount of light coming through the scope. When I had one, I would mostly run it at 18-22x depending on the conditions. Now have a 5.5-22 and couldn't be happier. Don't be that intimidated with shooting a lower powered scope.

5.5-22, I've had two and they were both nice scopes. I'm not into those silly high mag scopes.

+1 for the 5.5x22. For us down here anything above that and the mirage is killing us. Also dialing down for the wider field of view could be very helpful with target acquistition.

I prefer the 5.5-22x but we sell a lot of 8-32 to prairie dog shooters.
